I thought it might be a good idea for me to introduce myself to you all. 

Hello, I'm Grey. Nice to meet you. It's super exciting (and a little nerve-wracking) for me to meet other writers: I don't know very many, besides Rolo, Cloud, and Pyro. I'm looking forward to the day when I'm brave enough to post some of my writing here on FoF. I've been going over some of the threads, trying to catch up on the history of this forum, and I am astounded at how very lovely this place is. It's marvellous.

Anyway. A bit about me. 

I'm twenty-one, as of last November, and I don't think it's really sunk in for me yet that I am rapidly becoming A Real Live Adult. I'm just about to start my fourth year at university, doing English Literature Honours. My previous course was English Literature/Japanese, but alas, I couldn't keep doing Japanese this year because the work-load would probably give me some kind of nervous breakdown. I feel that the fact I needed to be pried away from that with a crowbar speaks volumes about the sort of person I tend to be when left to my own devices. My goal at the end of my course is to become some sort of academic, because at least that way I can get paid to talk exuberantly at people about my various passions. At the moment, I only do that pro bono (and sometimes without warning, much like a shark attack). 

I tried to think of a list of my interests and things I like but there are honestly too many. Throw a rock in any direction and you'll probably hit six of them. 

That's probably all there is to say about me? I lead a pretty quiet, nerdy life.

Hello, Nightfall. Thank you very much!
I think everyone's experiences studying English Lit. would be pretty different, but I'm happy to tell you about mine. I'm really pleased with the quality and scope of education that I've been fortunate enough to have, so I can definitely give a glowing recommendation. Early on (when I had the time-table space and was still working out what I wanted to do with my life) I took two Ethics subjects on the side, and they were super terrific. So I guess my advice is to keep your eyes open for opportunities like that: if you see a subject and think, "Damn, that sounds amazing and I think it could really do great things for me," I recommend looking into it even if it's not an official part of your course.

If you've got particular questions about things, I'd be happy to help if I can. I'm Australian, so I'm not sure if my university experience will be very similar to any other country's, though.

Hello Grey! I am Glowy, the antithesis of Nightfall, because light. Pleased to make your acquaintance. |D

I hail from Alaska but decided to leave because of the lack of light. I really like light. I don't like heat, though. Heat makes me want to dissolve into a puddle of plasma because I think all other organic material in my body would disintegrate in the process.

We are a very loving, accepting, and encouraging bunch around here, so please don't feel that you need to work anything up to post here.

Anywho, here are the essentials about me: I am twenty years old and am going to enter my first year of university this fall as a political science major. I took 2 years and went to an unaccredited ministry school, which helped me sort out my passions and decide which ones are worth sacrificing for. I am type 1 diabetic, have been since the day before my 8th birthday. It gives me a great academic interest in anatomy and medicine in general, but that's just not the path for me. I would burn out. My driving force is facilitating societal change- I hope to one day work with the United Nations.

Hello, Glowy! Thank you for such a warm welcome.

I can really relate to your Light, Not Heat perspective on things: I really enjoy cold weather, but where I live is completely dreadful for that most of the year. It pains me, and I hope one day to move somewhere a little cooler - literally and metaphorically, ehehe.

I wish you all the best with your career path! Working with the United Nations sounds incredible. I have a good friend who would like to do something in the same vein. I'm really awed by it, to tell you the truth.
