To say that Hawkheart was displeased would have been a sore understatement. This stranger, whoever she was, was giving her a taste of her own medicine. The dark tabby had a way of getting underneath Hawkheart's skin and creating little prickles. There was just something... weird about her. The weirdness was pushing most of Hawkheart's buttons. Oh, the nerve of this stranger! She'd even had the gumption to call her "dear!" DEAR!
This was not okay. That was a term reserved for good natured teasing, friends, or a lover. She wondered how much fun this she-cat was having right now. Most likely, she was having copious amounts. Hawkheart loved to have her fair share of fun as well, but there were lines that she would not cross. Apparently, the tabby had no boundaries whatsoever.
Maybe she was overreacting. Most likely so. Yes. She was being foolish. Hawkheart was supposed to remain cool and detached. Nobody was allowed to see when something was bothering her. Perhaps that was what was bothering her most of all right now. This perfect stranger was seeing her when her walls were in a state of disarray. It was also her fault. It was the tabby's fault that she was so jumbled up right now. She had to pull herself together.
Hawkheart wasn't given much of an opportunity to do so. Why not? Her paw got bitten. No big deal, right? Wrong. Everything exploded in pain. It streaked up to her shoulder and set her entire leg to throbbing. It got even worse when the stranger yanked on it. She ended up slipping and falling off of the tabby's back very ungracefully. By Starclan, this she-cat was even taking the grace away from Hawkheart's battles! This had to stop.
"I can see that, dear,"

she said, voice dripping acid. She found her paws again and rose, heavily favoring the paw that had been bitten. "Because most cats are intelligent enough to stay away from such an obviously marked border. You were hunting? Please. I'm sure that the scent of the bird totally masked the scent of our border." Her eyes narrowed and she glanced at Bearclaw for support. She was sure that he was wondering what the tabby was doing here as well. Her story simply didn't add up. "So," she purred, "You're going to tell us what you were really doing here." Yep. She was back in control. speaking[/sup][bg=ded3bd][atrb=width,469,true] [atrb=border,0,true]

Bearclaw
Bearclaw stood between the two she-badgers with his eyes wide and ears drawn back. Honestly, a verbal battle was raging between them? He didn't know what he wanted more! Both of them were walking balls of fire and hostility, not to mention excellent fighters.
Holding back the urge to tell Shika off in a way only a brother could, Bearclaw took a few steps so he could position himself behind Hawkheart. Good grief! Shika, get the hell out.
Wishing he could scream at her Bearclaw dug his claws into the ground, rooting his mass to one spot. So many emotions rolled through him, causing irritation to roll off his body. Good, at least that was appropriate! Part of him wanted to shout, "Just kidding! Joke's on you Hawky! This is my sister...funny right?" and the other part wanted to bowl his sister over and give her a few wounds to lick tonight.
Shika
Shika stood in front of the two clan cats, tail lashing back and forth. The air was so thick of hostility she could feel her tail slicing through it. "Of course I knew it was your border. Do you really think a bird could mask that?" Eyes narrowing part of her lip curled over her fangs, seething annoyance. "Why don't you go back to your pathetic way of flirting and leave me be. I was enjoying my day just fine before you rudely crashed in my bush." Holding her head high, the dark feline knew she had been on the free side of the border. Well, at least it wasn't MeadowClan's territory.
Taking time to sit, Shika licked a paw and began to run it over her ear. Hawkheart thought was irritated before? HA! Try now little kitty! Shika wasn't going to walk away easily. Mouse-brained fool hand another thing coming. Go ahead little girl, make my day. Shika's eyes burned her thought into the air between them, a small grin of malicious intent burning into her face.
Bearclaw had good taste, she'd give him that. But this she-cat needed to watch herself. If anything broke her little brother's heart they'd be dead.
Sleepin' with the fishes, in terms of some humans she'd heard once. Giving a small purr at the thought, Shika swore it would happen.
Your move, sweetheart.

Hawkheart stood at a crossroads, she could tell. Or crosspaths, since clanners didn't use roads. She could either let herself have fun, or she could just get mad. Getting mad would result in going mad, which would not be fun for anybody except possibly herself. Letting herself have fun would be pretty fun, too.
Oh, yes. Her thought process was absolutely top-notch today! She was being brilliant. Probably because her normally well-oiled mind was being interrupted by a throbbing paw. A paw that was throbbing because it had been BITTEN! Stars above!
Hawkheart stood at a crossroads. Or a crosspaths. Clan cats knew nothing of roads. She had a choice to make. This would effect the rest of her day, at the very least.
Amusement? Anger? Both choices seemed delicious enough, but she just didn't quite have it in her heart to pick a battle with this she-cat right now. Nope, it wasn't gonna happen. She was accusing her of flirting with Bearclaw and calling it pathetic, but honestly, Hawkheart just didn't care enough to let it bother her. She wasn't going to pick a fight today, not here. It had gotten her into enough trouble back at camp, picking fights.
So she smiled. She smiled and she laughed, sitting down and licking her injured paw. It was still bleeding. Bloody inconvenient. Hah! Bloody. Oh my. "You."
|
She jabbed her paw towards Shika. "You've got spunk. I like you. Feel free to stay a while." She grinned. "And pick your bushes better," she teased. Goodness, she hoped this attempt to diffuse the tension actually worked. Otherwise she would just appear completely off-balance for no reason. "My name's Hawkheart." speaking[/sup][bg=ded3bd][atrb=width,469,true] [atrb=border,0,true]

Bearclaw
The red colored tom's eyes widened as Hawkheart invited Shika to stay. "Umm...Hawkheart...." His sentence died as the feline gave her name and comfortably sat down. Shaking his large skull, Bearclaw sat a rabbit hop away from his clanmate, staring down his sister and slitting his eyes. For one reason or another he didn't trust Shika. Well, for many reasons he didn't trust her, but Bearclaw had never felt uneasy in his sister's presence. The rogue was capable of anything and would do anything to keep her cover, that's what scared him.
Instead of engaging, instead of adding his quips, Bearclaw of MeadowClan sat and waited. This would either unfold into a semi-pleasant experience or end in blood. He did know one thing for certain, Shika liked Hawkheart. This was another thing that could run one of two ways. Either Shika would leave Hawkheart alone or she would twist the she-cat into her web of plans and use her for one thing or another. That wasn't to say Hawkheart couldn't hold her own, it was evident that she could, but Shika was something else. Her mind was an endless cavern made up of tunnels and mazes even the most coy and clever could get lost in.
Shika
The black laced tabby continued to clean her shoulders as Hawkheart spoke. So, she was taking a different route. Interesting. The violent rogue was very intrigued now. Lifting her blue gaze to look at the sassy cat before her, Shika gave an amused smirk. "You, Miss, are one tough kitty." In one fluid motion, Shika was on her paws and circling Hawkheart, her mouth moving to make clicking noises and small hmms. She was slightly older than the pair before her, something about Hawkheart made her feel even older, which made her like her just a tad more.
"Just out of curiosity, wouldn't Ceaderstar be one ruffled fox if he knew you weren't chasing me off?" Having made a full circle, Shika sat in front of Hawkheart once more and tilted her head to the side. This time she sat about a fox length away from her and ignored the bear of a cat that sat a ways off. In all honesty, Shika had no idea where this was going and for once that didn't bother her.
