[bg=141414][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,500,true]Lost in memories, the elderly tom sniffled before being jolted back into reality by the silver tom...Frostpelt's...words. He believes that? Kitewhisker thought with wonder. Did he not understand Holly's power? No, of course not. He cannot even understand mine. They were sweet words - strange from a warrior's mouth - but wrong nonetheless.
"She is dead because she told me would be. If I do not believe that...then everything I know is wrong, and that cannot be. That must not be." There was a slight note of desperation in his voice. It wasn't that the tuxedo tom wanted his only love to be dead; it was that he wanted his perfect image of her truthfulness preserved in his mind forever. The StreamClanner shook his head. "I have some power, but hers was far greater. Holly left because she knew what would happen. She would...she would not have looked for me." Though it occurred to him; she had never told him what his destiny was before she had gone.
Had she seen the coming of the Clans? Was she afraid that her freedom might be taken away? He smiled, bittersweet. "That is a kind thought...but she was never mine to love, I knew that. Holly belonged to freedom and the future." She died, and though she did not love me, I don't think she ever loved another tom. Yes. That is the way it was. She was no one's. I cannot be jealous of freedom and fate, after all.
He coughed. It truly was chilly, and though he was mostly numb, he still shivered slightly. "I must get a balm from Storkflower, for hopefully he has returned...unless he fell through the ice while gathering watermint. I did not foresee it, but it is a possibility."
He raised his weak, shaky limbs, but before leaving, he inclined his head slightly to the tom whose name he now remembered.
"Thank you for listening, Frostpelt." |

Frostpelt was taken aback by this Tom's final words before he turned to leave. Somehow the way he left seemed elegant and nostalgic, his gaze moved to his paw. He didn't say anything more, Kitewhisker had stopped him. He did not know what to say, he was clueless.
Holding his head down, staring down at his paws and shuffling awkwardly and sadly. He became lost in thought, imagining just how terrible the elder most feel. He closed his eyes, head hanging low and let out a sigh. It must of been terrible to unable to be with a cat and to find out she was going to die and she had to leave you, he couldn't imagine how painful it was...
Brushing his tail over his forepaws, he slowly looked up to see Kitewhisker was a distance away now and the sadness in his eyes vanished. Kitewhisker had remembered his name, that was good right? He had become closer to an friend, this he did not expect.
Suddenly, two familiar scents welled into his nose. They were fresh, but it was clear they'd been here a while... As his fur ruffled, there was a different scent to them. It smelt like love, he tilted his head and stood up. His fur began to ruffle more and his muzzle creased. "No way..." His sister was back and she was with Mottletail, not only had he forbid that because he knew something between the two was happening beforehand and he wanted to prevent it from happening. It was too late, they were in love.
