[bg=e9e8e3][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,true]Silverpaw had been bored, as her training hadn't happened for a while. Walking over to the border, her body following after a butterfly that flew around over her head and landed on a flower just near the border. The strong scent of Meadow tinged her nose, causing her to leap backwards slightly and sneeze.
“Meadowclan stink! The smell is so overpowering. My nose... Eugh!” She brushed her silver paw over her pink nose and breathed slowly. Shifting her body a little when she looked around the meadowclan territory. Amazed at just how beautiful it was, she sat there staring off at it with a lost look in her eyes and her head tilted to the side. Blinking her sky-blue eyes and stretching out. Wrapping her silver white tail around her forepaws and watched the butterfly land on her nose. Inhaling the air and watching the butterfly spread its wings before flying away after and landing on a tree.
Turning to watch the butterfly, her eyes shifted around before she sat up and ruffled her fur while purring. “This area is so beautiful. I need to get here more often, I'm amazed my mentor never takes me anymore.” “speaking color.” |

Shadepaw, restless at lack of training (it wasn't his fault his mentor was so busy with, y'know, deputy-stuff) decided to take a lonely trip down to the PineClan border. He was toying with the idea of waiting for a PineClan patrol, so he could try to better understand their total lack of belief in StarClan. Mousebrains. How can anyone NOT believe in StarClan? They are forever, they are eternal.
Casually, Shadepaw began his trip, telling his mentor and anyone else who questioned him that he was simply going out to hunt and bring back fresh-kill. Once just outside of camp he started running, enjoying the feel of the wind in his whiskers, the utter freedom, until he reached the border. All of a sudden the scent of PineClan reached his nose, and he stopped running, determined to investigate what the trouble was...
It was only Silverpaw, his secret crush, and while he was unbearably relieved that it wasn't a patrol of battle-hungry warriors, he did wonder just why she was there.
"S...Silverpaw?"

[bg=e9e8e3][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,true]Her name was called, turning her head towards her caller she stared wide eyed at the Meadowclan cat before her. Turning her body around completely and brushing her tongue over her white paw and cuffing her ear. “Shadepaw, what are you doing here?” she cocked her head to the side, twitching an ear curiously as she awaited his reply.
While she awaited, her mind wandered around as she wondered what the meadowclan camp was like. Images of Volepelt struck through her mind. That damned Fogclan cat was challenging her own clan in a battle. He was so challenging and a lot of her clans were at risk of being injured.
She lashed her tail to the side as she came back to earth, tilting her head and interest flashed in her eyes while'st she awaited the reply to escape the young tom's lips. Feeling the fur brush through her body and her pine scented fur hiss quietly. She enjoyed this calm and serenity area, despite it being broken by none other than dear darling Shadepaw over there. It was kind of nice to talk to another cat, even if it was in a different clan. “speaking color.” |

While thinking of the perfect, slightly smart-arsed yet gentle comment to reply with, Shadepaw couldn't help but notice the conflicting emotions passing through her eyes and her body. He knew of Volepelt's personal vendetta against her clan. Yet he knew, if his clan were forced to be involved, he'd protect her above even his own clan. Snap out of it, idiot! You know she's from a different clan, you know she's probably got someone she likes within her own. And you know, and this is what hurts most of all, that she's perfectly capable of looking after herself.
Shadepaw padded over to her and sat beside her. He couldn't help but notice how her fur complimented his, despite the different smell clinging to it.
"I came to hunt, originally... Now I don't know. I think just to sit, this place calms me."

[bg=e9e8e3][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,true]Listening to his reply, her ears twitched every so slightly and she tilted her head and let out a meow of laughter. Sitting up completely and wrapping her tail neatly around her forepaws, the tip of her tail tucking neatly behind her front.
So this apprentice... He certainly has a big spirit, it's rather sweet. Silverpaw walked towards him a bit, so she was a nose away from crossing the border and then sat down again while resuming the sitting position she was once in. “Hunting? Your mentor lets you hunt freely? I had to sneak away from mine and I'm sure she'll be mad at my return. Then again, I forget your mentor is the deputy of a clan so she's probably taught you something and expects you to train alone on that...” Her voice trailed off, she had crept away from her own. “Everybody is getting ready for an upcoming event, it's rather depressing I must say.” She tilted her head and watched him, as if she was reading him. “Shadepaw, I envy you. Freedom must be hard to come by. Lets train together a bit, how does that sound? Keep it a secret between just you and I.”

Shadepaw was surprised at how truthful she was being to an 'enemy' cat. He looked her full in the face then, saw the complete honesty in her eyes. He was further endeared to her, even in that small moment.
"My mentor? She's too busy organising patrols and such at the moment. You know, deputy stuff. So i'm just going over what i've already learned until she teaches me something new. So don't envy me, i'll still be an apprentice when you're a warrior. But as for the training... I'd love to. Nothing would make me happier."

[bg=e9e8e3][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,true]Silverpaw nodded, laughing softly and walked onwards up along the border line so that she didn't cross the border. Being sure to wait for Shadepaw to catch up. He was right, by the time she was a few moons in warriorhood he would become one. She didn't say anything until after she left the Pineclan border and entered the whole new empty terrain. Clambering over a pile of logs, she landed near a stone and sniffed around it for any snakes or anything that could be harmful.
Looking back towards Shadepaw when he finally arrived, her gaze shifted back towards the rocks. She was slightly older than him, by a couple of moons at most. Who was she kidding, a couple meant six or seven in her book. She was almost ready to become a warrior. Twitching her ears, she poised herself and watched. She would attack him first the second he appeared, sure her claws would be unsheathed but she would surprise him.
Fur ruffling and putting on a evil appearance, as he appeared over the rocks she hunched up and leaped, stretching her paws out and wrapping them around the younger apprentice's neck, pulling him closer to her and turning her whole body around so he was beneath her, landing onto the ground with a loud thud and then leaping away just to land safely on the rocks. Brushing her tongue over her paws and rubbing at her ears. This time she would let him think fast, leaping off the rocks and falling towards him with paws stretched out again. What would he do?

He didn't expect her attack at all. Therefore he received a none too gentle faceplant into the dirt. Jumping up, he began to think. She was older, true, but he was bigger. He looked at her paws, but his mind was fixed somewhere else... and then he leaped. Instead of landing for her front paws as she expected, he leaped over her and attacked her from behind, knocking her paws out from under her with a sweep and then ever-so casually pushing her nose into the dirt. He purred at her as he licked the top of her head as if to say So, how do you like that, huh?

[bg=e9e8e3][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,true]Sure she was smaller, but she was much more experienced. As quick as he had moved, she had anticipated it and then shoved her shoulders into his chest, pushing him off her and then leaping away from him just to leap up onto the rocks and traced her paws across the long beam as she ran before leaping up into a tree branch and digging her claws down into the bark. Swaying her tail slowly and leaping off the tree just to land in front of him and then swiping his muzzle with her paw, pushing her head into his chest and pushing her head quickly down under his belly, sure there was a million blind spots but she didn't care. He was heavy though, so the idea of trying out her own move was a fail.
Leaping backwards, she twisted her body so her claws landed on the tree and she climbed up to the top and ran over the branches to the next tree kind of like a squirrel. Since she was born in Pineclan, she was bred to know about tree climbing. Glaring down at the younger tom from the leaves she began to watch his moves. What would he do? She didn't know.

Not knowing anything about tree climbing, he could hardly chase up there... or could he? He looked at the tree, looked at the branch she was 'surveying' him from. It seemed awfully high... and he knew he'd probably fall off and break his neck. But, with all the grace of a lopsided badger, he scrambled up the tree, coming up behind her. He tapped her on the flank with his paw, claws sheathed, and then started to wobble so quickly dug his claws into the branch to stop him from falling. Butting her gently with his head, he said:
"Well, be happy, Silverpaw. You definitely have the advantage here. So... will you push me off, or will you be kind?"

[bg=e9e8e3][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,true]She had watched him climb up the tree so clumsily that she could see his paw marks slice down the tree. Her ears twitched with amusement and she shook her head.
“Mouse brained.” She hissed slightly, but playfully before looking towards him. "I'm not going to be held responsible for killing the deputies apprentice, so I'm going to have to teach you how to climb down.” She rolled her eyes before leaping up onto another branch gracefully, extending her claws and the wrapping her tail around a branch to keep hold. Pushing her claws down into the trunk so she was upside down and sprawled out with her front claws in the trunk and her hind claws in the branch and then moved one hind leg down into the branch. Slowly doing this with her other hind leg, now that her tail was stretched out she got ready and then the second her tail released she raced down the tree with her legs spread evenly apart and landing safely on the ground after.
Turning her head up to face him, her blue eyes filled with confidence. “You got yourself into this mess, if you had watched me you'll be fine. Just... Don't let yourself drop, if you do I'll try and cushion your fall as much as I can.”

Shadepaw was TERRIFIED but was determined not to show it. So he emulated what she had done, wrapping his tail around the branch and sliding his front claws down the trunk, leaving his back claws in the trunk. Slowly, after agonizing heartbeats trying to pluck up the courage, he let go with his tail and practically sprinted down the side of the tree. When finally on the ground, he willed his racing heart to slow down. He looked up at her and purred.
"I... I didn't die! Yay!"

[bg=e9e8e3][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,true]Silverpaw nodded, before shaking her head after and stretching out. The sound of her back clicking, clearly showing she too didn't get out of it completely unharmed. She had trapped a nerve in her back, as much as she can climb up and sweep from branch to branch easily, to be able to land was a lot more difficult.
Eventually, when the feeling of the nerve flooded out of her system she turned her gaze towards Shadepaw. An unimpressed expression on her face. She wasn't happy, as much as this apprentice was fun; what he had done certainly risky and could put the blame on her. Luckily, he might of learnt his lesson and wouldn't attempt such reckless things again.
“Just what were you thinking?.” She hissed slightly, ears pinned back as she watched him. “Sure it's understandable that you were too caught up in the playfight, but to follow me up a tree when I was clearly going to come back down at some point... If you got hurt, your mentor would have my throat. She knows my scent, all of your clan does by now; well some should... I mean after all, they've seen me grow up.” Taking a slow deep breath, she wasn't mad. She was just scared, she didn't want to witness his death. Especially when he was what she wasn't. She just stared at him with this curious look in her eyes.
“Why does your clan believe in something that doesn't exist?.” She finally asked. “Starclan's not real.” “speaking color.” |

Shadepaw went on the defensive-
"If you hadn't gone up that tree in the first place, I'd never have had to go after you. And surely you know by now that MeadowClan cats never back down from a challenge? And besides, I learned something new today that will serve me better in the long run. And if I got hurt... All I'd have to blame is myself. I'd never give you up, not to my mentor, not to anyone. And finally... I believe in StarClan because I was raised that way. StarClan is as real to me as the trees are to you. I know you think they're not real, and I respect that. But surely you have to believe in something, even if it isn't StarClan?"

[bg=e9e8e3][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,true]Silverpaw listened to him, leaning back when he spoke. She was certainly taken aback by what he said.
Protect me? What does that mean? I'm... She gazed over at him, her ears pinned back to her scalp and her fur ruffled with embarrassment. He was right, she had been partly at fault. Waving her tail to silence him, thinking. Finally she decided to say. “You're welcome to.” She meowed. “Protect me.” She tilted her head, twitching her ears and brushed her tongue over her lips and then over her paw and nose.
“You may see them like that, but Starclan in my eyes aren't real. I've been brought up to believe they're nonexistant and have been brought up to just learn the moves we're meant to.” Her blue eyes flashed with sadness. “Plus if they were real, they wouldn't of killed my father so cruelly. They would of saved him. I don't believe in anything anymore. It's going to stay that way too.” “speaking color.” |
