Yeah, there's StarClan, and all the good little warriors who stuck to the code during their life go there. So what? It's not like they can control or affect anything, they're dead! She thinks it's absolutely ridiculous how some cats will grovel if they think they've done something to upset StarClan. She will not beg forgiveness from something she cannot see and cannot harm her. All StarClan is to her is something to look forward to when she's gone.

Hawkheart is a stereotypical MeadowClan cat. Her light brown tabby pelt is excellent for blending in with the fields, and she is slim and built like a sprite. Her legs are long, excellent for bounding across large distances, and rippling with sinewy muscle. She's quite proud of her legs, actually, and her eyes. Those eyes of hers are something else, all right! A deep golden hue, like honey, they give the deceptive image of sweetness. They do that, that is, until Hawkheart becomes angry; then they seem to burn like little yellow balls of fire.

Hawkheart is one of those cats who you really shouldn't tell anything to unless you want it to be told to the entire clan. Once a piece of information slips into her claws, she will try to find the best way to have some fun with it. Privacy? What's that? Such a thing exists? One should not entrust any personal information to this cat unless there is a way to ensure that she will not pass it on. There is a way to accomplish this, it's just that nobody's found it yet. Oh well.
If there's one thing that Hawkheart loves more than her clan (and she loves MeadowClan with every breath in her body), it's stirring up drama. She loves drama, she practically breathes drama. What good is life without a little conflict to make things interesting? Some would say that her best skill is her ability to exploit a situation and create an emotional bomb out of it. She does this simply because it amuses her. She also enjoys studying her clanmates' reactions, but she would never tell anybody that. Curiosity drives her manipulation as much as sheer amusement at causing a scuffle.
Hawkheart possesses a flippant disregard for the things that most cats consider to be sacred or a natural right: StarClan, privacy, the list goes on and on. She is absolutely nauseated by any display of weakness, simply because she considers herself to be above such things. Yes, ladies and gentlecats, here's Hawkheart, the world's gift to felines everywhere! If anybody tries to tell her that she's just as weak as anyone else, she'll laugh it off and say they're just jealous or ignorant.
However, Hawkheart knows that she is weak. The bravado that she displays so often is just that, a false display of bravery. She has built walls around herself carefully for many moons, ever since she learned the awful truth: that nobody cares about what's on the inside, that nobody could ever like her for who she really was. She hasn't trusted anybody since then, not even her friends. Her preoccupation with causing drama is her way of getting revenge on the world; she wants to cause everyone as much pain as she felt when her own father rejected her. Hawkheart knows that she's not really better than everyone else, she knows the reason she laughs at the pain of others, knows that she's weaker than anybody else she knows. Sometimes she wants to change, wants to stop lying to herself and everyone around her, but it's all she knows how to do anymore. Her behavior has left her to fend for herself and she knows it.
She is disgusted with herself for choosing this.

Hawkheart, among other desirable social skills, is excellent at pushing buttons. She considers it to be a gift, actually. She does it stealthily too. If you want a bit of social espionage done, Hawkheart is the cat to ask.
Despite her blunt claws, Hawkheart is decent at fighting. She specializes in tiring out her opponents instead of other, brutish forms of fighting like causing massive amounts of blood loss. She will claw an opponent if need be, she just tries to do it without severing a whole bunch of veins. When fighting, she prefers to toy with her enemy rather than dispatch him quickly.
As for hunting and tracking, she is mediocre in both respects. She can catch prey for her clan well enough to satisfy their appetites, but she doesn't like the end of the hunt. She prefers to chase instead of bring down. Still, cats must be fed and it is her responsibility to make sure that gets done.
History |
Hawkheart's story begins before her memory does, with a pretty little rogue she-cat named Princess and a smitten ForestClan tom named Grayfur. To make a long story short, they fell in love and after a while, Princess gave birth to three kits, two toms and one she-cat. Grayfur was overjoyed- he'd always wanted a son! The family could have existed perfectly well as it was, but Grayfur's best friend had noticed how absent he had been from camp lately and followed him on a visit to Princess. This warrior, named Badgerclaw, scurried back to camp and sounded the alarm: Grayfur was fraternizing with a rogue, and there were kits! Princess and the two tom kits were dragged back to camp by a legion of ForestClanners, and as punishment for Grayfur's infraction of the Warrior Code, Brownstar ordered that Grayfur's family should be killed right then and there. Grayfur was helpless to do anything but watch.
Later that night Grayfur stole out to where he hoped the she-kit was and searched for his daughter, enraged at the turn of events. All he had ever wanted was a son, and now fate had dumped a useless daughter on him! How was that for karma? He thought he ought to just leave the kit right there when he saw her, but his sense of morality won and he brought her back to camp and left her in the litter of a sleeping queen. The clan all thought it was very strange when they found out about this kit's sudden appearance. But they all assumed that she had been lost by her family traveling past their territory and had simply crawled toward their camp, seeking warmth, and had stumbled into the nursery in the middle of the night. She was innocent of any wrongdoing; they couldn't turn her away. So she was indoctrinated into ForestClan at the age of one moon, and given the name Hawk-kit.
Hawk-kit grew up accepting that queen as her mother and her mate as her father. Nobody knew the truth except for Grayfur. When the groups of ForestClan separated, she chose to journey with her "mother" to the new territories, leaving the rest of her family behind. She reached apprenticeship age while still traveling, but she was not given a ceremony as there was no leader. She grew to despise the apprentices, telling herself that it simply wasn't fair. One of them had even been apprenticed the day before everybody left, so why couldn't she be given a ceremony too? She felt a little bit better when she was given the first apprentice ceremony in MeadowClan, but fate took a nasty turn again. Grayfur, the cat who despised her with all of his being, the cat who wished she'd been found and killed instead of his sons, was her mentor.
Her training did not go well at all. Grayfur was incredibly harsh on her, making it a habit to call her pathetic, useless, and weak at least once a day, preferably five or ten times. She bore it, though, like she bore all things- she told herself that he was lying and that she would be better than he ever was. The poisoning of her mind began here. She learned to deal with the world by lying.
The day that Hawkpaw snapped and asked Grayfur why he hated her so much was the day that he lost his life. He told her the truth, she believed him, and they fought. Grayfur had the intention of killing her, but she was merely trying to defend herself. Luckily the clan believed her when his body was dragged back and she was accompanying it, barely conscious. Now her mysterious appearance back in ForestClan made sense, and everybody understood why Grayfur wanted nothing to do with his apprentice.
Hawkpaw started building her walls then, because she realized that Grayfur had wanted to kill her because of who she was. She thought that maybe if she could just hide who she was that it would protect her. Unfortunately, this didn't allow for her to open up to anybody about the pain she was in, so it seethed and further poisoned her mind and distorted her views of the world.
She was made a warrior when she saved a younger apprentice from a badger attack, and was given the name Hawkheart to honor her loyalty to protecting the members of her clan.
