Cautious paws sunk into the rain-moistened ground as the yellow eyes of a young warrior watched her companions anxiously. Black pelt, brown pelt. Both of them mildly soaked, like her, from the rain that had just stopped. Both of them cats to be wary of. Nothing as bad as Ratwhisker, but...grah, she knew she shouldn't be judgmental. It was just hard. She didn't necessarily dislike them, it was just...complicated, and she wasn't good at putting feelings into words. Oh get a grip on yourself, chided the spotted tabby to herself mentally. It's time to hunt, not introspect. Russetfoot, as the oldest, was leading the patrol. They were about mid-way out in the territory, wading through the tall grass. Palefoot badly wanted to race off to her favorite spot, the forest, and start stalking things but she was terrified of the brown she-cat's wrath. Plus, I'm a a warrior now. I have to be responsible...no matter how boring it is. Still, she piped up timidly. "Russetfoot, I um, I don't mean to question you at all, but when will we start hunting?"OOC: Erm, is it okay that I made Russet the leader, Monster? Just cause she is the oldest. ^^; Lawd, this post is short, late, and kinda crappy. [bg=dadbdf][atrb=width,469,true] [atrb=border,0,true] |

The tom's amber gaze was on the cat ahead of him, not moving as he followed. He stalked behind the other warrior quietly, ears perked to catch little noises like snapping twigs or tiny pawsteps of mice or shrews. While he caught a few, they were too far to really pay attention to, and he was more focused on following the hunting party he had joined. There weren't many other creatures out this soon after the rain, however, so the tiny sounds were few. The black cat was mildly soaked, and the thin, ragged pelt he was named after didn't provide much protection from the cold. Since he was wet, the wind proved to be more of a chill than normal.
The warrior glanced back at Palefoot, who was behind him. She didn't seem to like either of the very much... She looked suspicious more than anything else. The tom sighed before looking back ahead, wandering when exactly they were going to stop and decide in which direction they would head off for hunting. Even though he had been a member of the Clan for many moons now, he wasn't quite used to having others around him as he hunted. If anything, his sister would sit up in a tree and watch as he caught a squirrel or mouse for her.
"Russetfoot, I um, I don't mean to question you at all, but when will we start hunting?"
Raggedpelt shook his head quickly, deciding that now was not the time for a trip down memory lane. He glanced back at Palefoot, nodding lightly before looking back up at Russetfoot. It was taking them a while to find someplace, if anything, but that was a part of going hunting with a party. One could not just wander off to wherever and hunt on his own when he was following someone else... He definitely still had a lot to get used to.
"...It does seem as though we've been walking around for a while now..." he stated somewhat quietly, sighing to himself. He hoped that they weren't looking for birds... anything but birds... After the whole incident Lichenheart had seen, where he missed by more than a few inches, he didn't want to raise suspicions about his bad eye. Due to the fact that he only had one, his depth perception wasn't terrible, but it left something to be desired. Larger animals that could only run, not fly, were easier to catch and escaped less often. Birds, on the other hand, were the warrior's weakness.
"...Are we looking for rabbits or mice...?" the tom asked, his voice at a volume that was barely above that of a whisper, "...There wont be many out after the rain, but with some luck we might find a burrow..."
((Bad post, sorry ^^' I'll do better next time... I'm sorry that it took me so long.))

Russetfoot padded alongside her clanmates, her eyes searching for any possibilities while her paws tingled with anticipation. If there was anything she was talented at, it would most certainly be hunting. She had to admit, she would much rather be out here on her own- instead of with these two other felines. She knew she couldn't complain, especially after it was decided that she would lead the patrol. Her. Not any other feline in the camp or the patrol. No, Russetfoot finally was able to lead her own patrol- and she liked it. The feel of control, of respect, of adminiration! Okay, so perhaps she was enjoying it a bit too much. Afterall, it was because she was the oldest that she was chosen- but either way, she decided to enjoy it to the fullest.

[/s] The she-cat's eyes flickered a bit before she turned to her clanmates and looked them over for a moment. Her excitement dwindled a bit, but she decided to forget about it for now. " We can start hunting at any time now. " She mewed, before glancing around the area. " If you hear something, then go right on ahead. " She told them, before flicking her ears, her eyes resting on the thin black tom. She wondered how he hunted, if he was any good. She supposed he wasn't bad- if he was going on a hunting party with them afterall. She shrugged it off, before taking a few steps away from the other felines and quietly listening and scenting the air. The prey couldn't be too far away now. “speaking color.”[/blockquote]

Well, it seemed Raggedpelt shared her sentiments. Perhaps she wasn't entirely crazy. Yet. She even looked at him with slight admiration; she hadn't thought of that. He might be half kittypet...so? Her own conscience roughly interrupted her as she formulated the thought. So what if he's half kittypet? Half of your Clanmates were kittypets or rogues! You've got no problem with Cindertail, do you? Or Mistystream?Bluh, thought the spotted she-cat to herself. Brain not functioning today.Shoulders hunching slightly as droplets slowly trickled down her pelt, she did straighten up when Russetfoot said to go ahead. In a span of time almost too short to be measured, she took off after a faint whiff of blue jay she'd just caught. Or starling. Whatever. It was an excuse to run, particularly to the trees. Even the tall blades of grass that tickled her chin and bounced dewdrops onto her as she shoved past them couldn't dampen (heh) her mood. She relaxed under the dim, cool cover of the oaks and junipers, ashes and beeches. Breathing deeply, she saturated her mouth and throat with the tiny particulates of scent in the surrounding area. Well what did you know? There was a bird around here after all. --- words;; 205 notes;; Behold the mighty attention span of Palefoot. lawl I know this isn't making her any easier to roleplay with. But it's her nature.music;; Technicolor Phase - Owl City [bg=dadbdf][atrb=width,469,true] [atrb=border,0,true] |
