Appearance |
A tom of average size and shape, Waspwhisker has long, ginger tabby fur, a long, fluffy tail with a white tail-tip, and a white muzzle. His stripes seem to blend into his fur, giving him a slight mottled appearance, with the darkest stripes around his eyes and legs.
The StreamClan warrior has two round, large yellow eyes, pale in color and appear as very soft to most cats, in the clan that is.
He is built well for a StreamClan cat; he is neither plump nor skinny, with thicker, strong legs and a berry pink nose. The young ginger tom's fur is of the best length to keep him well insulated for swimming, and when drenched does not feel as if he is carrying another cat on his back.
Finally, he has long, feathery whiskers, well suited for finding his way through reeds when shadows stretch over the camp.
Personality |
Waspwhisker seems to have two separate personalities depending on whom he is around.
When in the borders of StreamClan, when there is no tensions gripping at the cats, he is a very patient tom, observant and quick-witted with day-to-day clan life. The young tom has a bit of a whimsy to him, and can be imaginative at times. Because of this, he is often aloof and can become very flighty if stuck in a situation he doesn't like, and has a tendency to put his paw in his mouth.
Yet when either his clan is threatened by outsiders or otherwise, he is sharp, arrogant and rude. Waspwhisker becomes very blunt and hard to deal with, his tongue sharper than his claws. Only when the tom can be reasoned with or when the threat has left will he return to his stabler self.
He reacts like this more-so for the safety of his clan, and does not mind being hostile to outsiders if it means his clan can be safe for another day.
Yet, if the threat faced was something more like sickness or drought, something more environmental than territorial, the gets very neurotic. He fears sickness, as it's what killed his sister, and will avoid sick cats as much as he can. The ginger tabby will, though, try to help out in anyway possible as long as he does not come into contact with the sickness itself.
Skills | With average fighting skills, Waspwhisker can safely say that most of his skills reside in his hunting. With the amount of patience that comes to the tom while waiting to flash his paw into a silver, lapping pool, it's enough for any cat to think he would never have such a brutish side when dealing with outsiders. He knows well how to use his surroundings to his advantage, when to be downwind of prey, and when to finally make his move and take down his prey. Waspwhisker is, and has always been, a very strong swimmer and loves to feel water run over his fur.
History |
When Waspwhisker was born, no one had expected him, not even his mother. Mistyclaw wasn't ready to give up her warrior duties to raise kits, so he and his sister, Nettlekit, were left to be raised by a kind, gentle queen named Sparrowfur. Not soon after, though, Nettlekit died, being too weak to survive the beginnings of Leaf-Bare and the first shock of green-cough.
Raised alone, his real mother soon dumping the little tom on the queen, wasn't phased by this at all. What was a kit to know of this, when all his cares circled around being fed and being warm?
At 3 moons, his real mother was dragged into the camp, drowning after being startled by a thrush's alarmed call and hitting her head on the bottom of a rock in the river. Of course, the tom mourned for her, but not in the way any kit would mourn for their mother; Sparrowfur had always been more of a mother than Mistyclaw had ever been.
Upon reaching his 6th moon, he was given a large, powerful tom named Froststripe as a mentor. The old pale grey tabby was almost ready to become an elder, and with such age mainly focused on teaching his apprentice more about hunting and tracking than on fighting. Waspwhisker was luckily able to learn some good fighting techniques when he trained with other mentors and apprentices.
Given the name of Waspwhisker when he reached his 14th moon, the ginger tabby had a normal vigil. There was no attacks on the camp, no animals intruding to steal kits or claim a warriors life. All that greeted the tom that night was the shadows of the reeds underneath the waning moon, and the softness of the sounds of night.
Now, four moons later, the tom's mentor had died of greencough during the hard Leaf-Bare, and he has been on-edge and blunt more then his soft, whimsical self.
