Name | Whimbrelpaw
Gender | tom
Age | 8 moons
Rank | apprentice
Clan | Stream
Beliefs |
For as long as he could remember, Whimbrelpaw had been raised in awe of StarClan. His parents both being hardheaded and self-righteous, StarClan was one of the only forces they would willingly submit to. It was this dedication to the starry cats that had been taught constantly to both Whimbrel and (when she was still alive) his sister, Sorrelkit.
Whimbrel’s belief in StarClan is, therefore, as constant as the seasons. In truth, the young cat had never really given much independent thought to these beings. He was more than willing to take on the belief of his father, whom he idolized, follow the rules, and waste his thought on much more important matters- like the feats he would accomplish as a warrior of StreamClan.
Parents | Sabletail; mother [NP] Owlclaw; father [NP]
Siblings | Sorrelkit; she-cat [deceased]
Other Kin | optional
Mate | not yet
Crush | not yet
Kits | not yet
Apprentice/Mentor | (Will apply upon acceptance)
Appearance |
Whimbrel is, first and foremost, a rather small cat. His body is small, compact, and lithe, with slightly longer legs than a cat his size would normally have. His body is young and well-fed, lacking the degree of muscle development that older apprentices display. Whimbrel’s tail is long, thin, and covered with the same short, sleek, dark fur that is on his back. This tail attributes well to his acute sense of balance. When he’s annoyed or trying to hide something, it’s this very twitchy tail that gives him away.
His pelt is a mixture of light-and dark-browns, patterned with a mixture of ticked and classical tabby striping that is just a faint shade darker than the darkest part of his pelt. His pelt is a dark, almost greyish brown on his back and legs, growing a lighter brown on his head, belly, and the insides of his legs. On his chin and chest are very light- almost white- patches. From his mother he has inherited a great amount of vanity when it comes to the state of his pelt. Consistent in keeping his fur in a tidy state, the vain young tabby would groom himself after every catch in a hunt or burst of speed on a patrol if he had his way. In fact, Whimbrel has taken to grooming himself ferociously every time he is lectured or embarrassed, to hide his reaction.
His head is small, proportionate to his body, and displays soft, unextraordinary features. His ears are large, whiskers long and stark-white, both very sensitive. His muzzle is small, tipped with an equally-small orange nose, but don’t let the small mouth fool you- his teeth are as sharp as any other cat’s. Finally there are two very round, very expressive dark brown eyes that, as hard as he tries to remained composed, give away everything he’s feeling inside.
Personality |
Skills |
Whimbrelpaw’s skills, as they are now, lie in hunting, tracking, and running, and lack greatly in fighting and swimming (activities that require greater strength).
Due to his sleek body, large ears, and long(ish) legs, Whimbrelpaw was naturally quick and already possessed skills that would help him advance in tracking and hunting. In fact, after these two moons of training the young cat had already developed rough skills in both of these areas. His impatience, however, tends to interfere with his hunting. In the beginning of a hunt, Whimbrel struggles to remain patient and focused. However, as the trip progresses, the cat is able to calm down and channel that natural hunting instinct more easily.
Whimbrelpaw’s downfall lies in fighting. His body does not constitute a good fighter, so it requires much more effort for him to advance. His hardheadedness and impatience do nothing to help and Whimbrel has been known to make the same mistake over and over for a while before admitting defeat and correcting himself. Swimming, as well, provides a great challenge for him. This, however, is for different reasons altogether…
