There's a BADGER!? [Sparrowclaw/Foxpaw]

Opening her green eyes, she twitched her ears and sniffed the crisp air. The smell of ashes still lingered in the ground, causing her to sneeze and cough. Lashing her fawn tail side to side, she stretched and yawned; time to get up and set patrols.

As she crawled out of the warriors den and sat down outside. Her green eyes couldn't help but move towards the Meadowclan camp where the burnt area was. She could still remember flames blaring from the area and burning the air. Closing her green eyes, she sighed and hung her head before standing up and walking onward towards the gathering of cats.
As Cedarstar gave the orders for the group of cats who left for their areas, Sparrowclaw made sure the hunting patrol went to do the same.

She flicked her tail side to side as the group of cats went before pondering. "I'm going to let Shadepaw rest, but I MUST go and investigate that smell... The smell of badger is highly worrying."
As she glanced around the clearing of all the cats, her eyes caught sight of Foxpaw and walked over to him.
Of course, he was the first apprentice she saw and his arrogance could be some use to her.

Sure, it was unsafe to go with just an apprentice to view the stench of a badger, but what else was there to do? She couldn't let the badger eventually find the clan just to put it in danger. Sparrowclaw's heart lurched. No way was she going to let her clan die because of her carelessness. That was something she disapproved off.
"Foxpaw." she mewed coolly, sitting down in front of him and looking down at him with proud green eyes. "Would you like to go on a patrol with me? I have to do some investigating, but I'd rather have an apprentice come with me. I'd take Shadepaw, but he needs to rest. He has been training so hard and I promised him a break." BIG mistake there.
"What do you say? We can hunt on the way back."

Foxpaw tossed and turned in his newly made nest, grunting in his sleep. He was having nightmares of the fire. This had been happening for a few sunsets now. Whenever he shut his eyes he could just see the bright orange engulfing everything he knew, and it scared him. A couple of the other apprentices muttered for him to quit moving, so Foxpaw sighed and curled up again, determined not to look like a frightened kit just because of silly nightmares. It's just he had never had anything like that happen to him. Sure, his father hadn't been the nicest, but he had always had a home to go back to after training and patrols. And it had looked and felt safe. The camp still stood, but the ginger tom still felt uneasy in the burnt undergrowth, as if some unknown enemy could spring out at any moment. The blackened undergrowth unnerved him and made him feel uneasy. It made him feel like the forest could light up again and scorch the rest of the territory, taking away everything he had ever known. Foxpaw heard rustling again, and before he could say it wasn't him this time, he saw Sparrowclaw's head pop in to the den. "Would you like to go on a patrol with me? I have to do some investigating, but I'd rather have an apprentice come with me. I'd take Shadepaw, but he needs to rest. He has been training so hard and I promised him a break." Foxpaw blinked, looking up to the deputy. Sure, he felt like he hadn't left the camp in ages. But there was sleep. He scoffed himself, yeah like you're going to say no to the deputy. She'd have your tail. But sleep does sound really good right now... Then he remembered during the fire that Elkstep didn't stop. Even when he was dead tired he was still standing guard, still going out and hunting to feed everyone else. Foxpaw wanted to be like that. Determined to do whatever he could to help the other members of his Clan. Besides, "investigating" could be interesting... "What do you say? We can hunt on the way back." "Sure!" he responded a little too cheerily, carefully maneuvering his way out of the mess of sleeping cats and walked out of the den. [bg=272a2f][atrb=width,469,true] [atrb=border,0,true]

Taken aback by the cheerful the apprentice gave her, she twitched her ears before nodding and standing to the side as he maneuvered around her.
Turning around silently, her gaze swept over the apprentices and caught sight of her sleeping apprentice. Good, he was resting. He needed the rest. She realized how caring she was; that wasn't her fault however, she just cared greatly for her apprentice. He was so eager and always looking forward to what she taught.

As she left the den as silently as she could, she walked to Foxpaw's side and noticed he was still tired. She twitched her ears and nodded before heading towards the entrance of the camp. "Let's not take too long in camp, the sooner we check that badger den out the sooner we get home." she stated softly, a soft tone to her voice. Clearly this was to show that the Badger was nothing to be afraid of as long as they took care. She tried to remember where she heard the clan cats talk about where the badger set had been scented and when she did patrols she remembering tasting the fresh and stale badger scents mix together which could greatly confuse her.

Ears twitching, Sparrowclaw paused and looked directly towards the charred camp. Her eyes saddened and her ears flattened slightly, she was stuck mid step with one paw in the air and her body kind of poised. Blinking, she shook her head and then proceeded onward. She tasted the air, being sure to find the area and nodded before turning her gaze towards the left and then to the right and nodded. Digging her sharp and small claws into the ground, her fur ruffled slightly as the scent was stronger towards the left area and then nodded. "Come on Foxpaw, it's this way." She gestured with her head towards the left side of the camp.
