Beliefs | Cedarstar was raised believing in StarClan. He has all his life, and that will never change. He feels that StarClan is always watching, and does send valuable omens. He disapproves of the fact that PineClan cats don't believe in StarClan, but is not bothered by it so much that he wants to attack. He always remembers to thank them when he catches prey and often asks them for guidance as well.
Appearance | Cedarstar is mottled with multiple hues of brown. His face, a light, earthy brown, has an almost cream color below his eyes, with the top part being brown. He has a white chin, and long, splayed white whiskers. Thin white hairs peek out of Cedarstar's large, always alert ears. His sharp yellow eyes are outlined with a thin black line, followed by white. His light, pinkish-tan nose almost blends in with the bountiful fur on his body, making it unnoticable in some cases.
The top of Cedarstar's head turns a dark, almost black color. It travels down his thick back, outlining his spine. The hues of brown mash together on this tom's pelt, making the illusion of stripes in his fur. The browns around the middle of his body are lighter than both his haunches and front torso. The thick, shaggy brown hair cascading down Cedarstar's neck gives off the impession of a mane.
On Cedarstar's legs, the dark brown color that cover's his spine appears, grasping the sides of all four legs, making his powerful limbs look shadowed. This dark brown color also outlines each of his toes, the middle fur colored like the long, slightly matted fur on his stomach. Cedarstar's tail, tipped with the same deep brown, is thick, bushy, and on the short side. Besides the dark brown tip, the ample amount of fur takes on a lighter brown hue, slightly darkening in random areas.
The most noticable trait of Cedarstar's is his large, menacing structure. His thick-boned body is measured around 12 inches tall, and it carries 14 pounds of muscle and fur. Although his shaggy pelt gives him an extra pound or two, he is not an overly-large cat. His body may not be lean, but is certainly rock-hard due to his immense, above average muscles. His tough, rugged body has endured many battles and has multiple scars imbedded into it, but all are hidden by his bountiful, thick brown fur.
Personality | Cedarstar's moons of experience have taught him to be wise. He is able to understand all points of view, and look at everything carefully. Along with being wise, Cedarstar has learned that the best leader is one that is always calm and collective. He does his best to stay serene and understanding, and he almost never loses his cool. On the occasions he does, however, he fails to think clearly and can be rash and unfair.
He used to be very jealous of any tom with a mate, and especially kits. Recently, however, he has shed these feelings in the delight of finding the love of his life, Gingerstripe. They have just discovered their feelings for each other after knowing one other distantly for moons, and have a thriving and happy relationship. He is, however, still jealous of any tom with a mate and kits but this feeling is much fainter now.
"I practically made you, so why must I pretend you're my equal?"
This is Cedarstar's theory. He feels that leaders of other clans are inferior to him, since he was the one who turned them to Clan life. Because of this, Cedarstar can be seen acting rudely toward other leaders during gatherings, though he does try to restrain this. His greatest, (perhaps fatal) flaw is that he is rather arrogant and believes he knows everything of importance.
Cedarstar does care for his whole Clan; he just isn't a very touchy-feely sort of cat, so he probably won't spend much time with you unless he knows you. He feels MeadowClan is his full responsibility - especially the former ForestClanners. Though he won't admit it - even to himself - he favors them a bit over the former rogues and kittypets.
Skills |Cedarstar's most favored and developed skill is hunting. It's his favorite thing to do, and moons of practice have taught him countless techniques to feed his clan. Besides hunting, Cedarstar is a fairly good fighter.
Elkstar, a fighter, attempted to raise young Cedarstar as a fighter. Although fighting never ended up to be his best skill, Cedarstar is a worthy opponent.
He enjoys digging (as many MeadowClanners do) though he's not as good it as he'd like to be. Swimming is a definite NO, and his climbing is so-so but leaves much to be desired.
One major flaw with Cedarstar, however, is giving off a good impression and keeping a conversation going. He's not one to talk about no particular subject freely, and does not always know what's best to say to a new cat.
History | Cedarstar's kithood began with the tragic death of his parents, Bluewhisker and Oaknose. He was around three moons old when a terrible round of whitecough hit the ForestClan camp. Still slightly weak from giving birth to her son, Bluewhisker passed away from the disease. Not long after, her mate had given up on life without Bluewhisker, and did not have the energy to fight against whitecough as well. Left as a young kit with no parents, the leader Elkstar took young Cedarstar in as his own son.
Just three moons later, Cedarkit became Cedarpaw. Elkstar himself volunteered to be his mentor. Elkstar, being one for the battle, spent most time training young Cedarpaw to be the clan's most beloved fighter. Cedarpaw, however, had other plans. He loved hunting, and would ask almost every day for hunting lessons instead of combat lessons. The answer usually being no, Cedarpaw learned every trick in the book, until there was nothing left to learn.
Cedarpaw proudly took on the name Cedarclaw around seven moons later. He befriended to other warriors, Littlewhisker and Russetpelt. The trio would do everything together; sleep, patrol, hunt, and fight. Life was good, until Elkstar died. The deputy, Brownfang, took over, and led the Clan in a different direction.
Cedarclaw, later being named deputy after mentoring Yellowstripe, a good young tom, did not like the new leader's ways of controlling the Clan. He knew that he was not the only one, either. Finally fed up with the way Brownstar treated the Clan and its valuable members, Cedarclaw turned to his two closest friends for support. The three decided to leave the Clan, and start a new one with any cat who wanted to come. Secretly talking to each cat about leaving, Cedarclaw and his friends were able to get the approval of almost half the Clan. Of course, those who did not want to go quickly tattled to Brownstar.
Enraged, Brownstar called out his deputy in front of the whole Clan. Cedarclaw pledged his case, with the help of half the warriors and apprentices in ForestClan. The dispute was intense, and finally Cedarclaw led his fellow patriots out of camp. They left the territory in search of a new home that night, never to return.
They traveled for weeks, slowly losing members of the group to starvation and disease. One glorious night, however, Cedarstar found it. A vast expanse of land, with no inhabitants. Because the group of cats shrank drastically, the survivors began to talk to local rogues and kittypets, preaching the ways of the Clan and asking them to join.
They rallied so many, one Clan could not fit all the cats. Because of this, the group split into four parts, and a leader was picked for each. (Though privately Cedarstar wishes Gingerstar had never become a leader.)
Cedarclaw, by popular demand (and his own personal ambition), was chosen to be leader of MeadowClan. Since then, Cedarclaw has been known as Cedarstar to all that decided to join the new Clans.
Many things have happened since they settled; he has raised and trained Shrewstorm, who though he often gets on his nerves, is a fine warrior. He has found love in the form of Gingerstripe, a beautiful, loyal she-cat who he knew distantly for many moons, but became more interested in her during the end of the Journey and as they settled, and finally plucked up the courage to tell her that he wanted her to be his mate.
She agreed, and he felt that he could not be happier. One day, he knew, they would have kits.
Then, of course, things began to fall apart. Rumors of his favoritism. Angry mutterings against former ForestClanners thinking they were better. Cedarstar is irritated by these malcontents, but does not consider them a serious threat and is sure they will fizzle out.
He lost his first life a few moons back to an unexpected cave-in, and his second very recently to a fox, leaving him with seven lives left.
Role Play Example | Cedarstar padded out of his den, the cold grey sky greeting him gloomily. Bunching up his strong, lean muscles, he leaped onto the Highrock, long brown fur brushing the deep grey stone. The massive tom stared out over the camp, a cold glint in his sharp yellow eyes. With one mighty yowl, he called to his Clan.
"Will all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Highrock for a meeting!" Cedarstar studied the faces of his warriors, emerging from dens one by one. His cold gaze narrowed as he spotted his deputy ushering on particular cat towards the Highrock. With a look of deep, pitiless disgust, Cedarstar called to the tom. "Gingerpelt."
The bright orange traitor limped over, pure hatred burning in the tom's pale green irises. "Yes, leader?" He scoffed, plopping down and licking a forepaw, "what can I do for you today?"
Growling with anger, Cedarstar turned to address his Clan. "Today you are witnessing the trial of Gingerpelt," Cedarstar bellowed, lashing his thick brown tail, "for he has betrayed you, me, and the whole of the clan. His treacherous ways have injured us all, and he no longer deserves a place in this Clan. Gingerpelt has murdered Smallflower, and now he must pay." The group of gathered cats yowled their approval, grief still plainly written on many of their faces. Cedarstar held his head high as he faced Gingerpelt.
"Do you have anything to say for yourself?" Cedarstar watched the malicious ginger tom avert his eyes. "We know what you have done. I sentence you to exile, and if you are seen on my territory after moonhigh, I give my warriors permission to kill you." Cedarstar stared at the tom, disgust plain on his face. When Gingerpelt did not reply, he called his deputy with a flick of his deep brown ears.
"Take him to the border, Ravenheart," Cedarstar mewed sternly. He then leaned closer his deputy, whispering, "and watch him. Make sure he leaves." The sleek black she-cat nodded, and beckoned to another warrior to help lead the traitor out of MeadowClan's camp. After watching the three go, Cedarstar mewed one last statement.
"You see what happens to traitors? They are not welcome here. I hope you all know where your loyalties lie."
With that, the large brown tom bounded from the top of the Highrock, his long fur swirling around him in the strong winds. His cold yellow gaze swept the clearing once more, before he slipped through the brambles at the front of the Medicine Cat's den.
