It was another dark night in the city. The skies were clear, but that didn't guarantee no rain. Cleopatra’s sharp yellow-green eyes danced from road to road. The kittypet place disgusted her, but she had nowhere else to go. She took in scents of trash that had just recently been taken out, cringing slightly. Everything smelled so… two-leggy. None the less, garbage meant food, and food meant she could fill her grumbling tummy.
The loner tried to pick out scents of fresh meat, but that was extremely hard to come by in this place. The freshest meat any cat would ever find is if they killed a cat themselves, and however hungry Cleo was, she was not about to devour a completely innocent cat wandering the streets. If they gave her a reason, though, she would be on it.
Her paws led her to a black trash bag, easy enough to rip open with a slash of sharp claws. A plate of ground beef was stored inside, a delicious treat for a wandering cat. The problem was getting through the multiple layers of plastic wrap. It wasn’t a difficult task, but it took a fair amount of time.
Cleo glanced around, trying to be sure she was alone. She could never be too certain here; Kittypets and two legs often appeared out of what seemed like nowhere. She began to rip at the wrap with her teeth, making slow progress, but each little nibble got her that much closer to her goal of a decent meal.
She wanted to eat and find a place that smelled more natural and less like disgusting, nasty kittypets and their masters. If she could have easily taken the meat somewhere else, she would have, but she was too lazy and it was too heavy. She could have done it with the slightest bit of effort, but that was too much to ask of queen Cleopatra.

Icy blue orbs glowed from the shadows as Shika, wicked wrapped in fur, watched the streets with vague interest. The mangy curr that were back near the junkyard could hardly be called suitable cats for the group she wanted. But, they sufficed for now. Nevertheless, the dark brown tabby with crushing eyes was always on the look out for new blood.
And she just might have found it.
A lone cat walked the streets of the kittypet streets, searching for something. Well, food no doubt. Cats always came here for food. Shika, did not. She couldn't stand the crow-food these beasts tossed away. Scrunching her nose in distate, the rogue clung to the shadows like a dear friend and made her way toward the feline.
Upon closer inspection she was mildly relieved to find the other cat was female. At least she wouldn't have to deal with an idiotic tom who tried seducing her. Sitting tall, Shika wrapped her snake like tail around her paws and cleared her throat lightly. "You seem like a cat with taste, surely this isn't your idea of a decent meal." If the cat chose to turn around, Shika's head would be cocked to the side in a facade of innocence as she calculated what she could; icy orbs burning with hunger that no one could exactly figure out.
Absently, Shika's ears twitched as a dog barked off in the distance. Damned beasts...it was almost genius that these two-legs kept these dogs trained, some to kill! However, it wasn't saying much. The brutes were as idiotic as they came! And there was a pair of kittypets disputing over a territory line a few houses down...closing her mind to the outside world (mostly), Shika returned her attention back on the female before her. Just as Cleopatra was convinced she was as alone as she could be in this filthy place, she sensed a presence behind her. She ignored it, expecting it to be a clean, prissy little kittypet on its way home from the park. Those creatures didn't deserve to be called cats. They had such stuck up attitudes, and were extremely stupid. They wouldn't know fox dung if they stepped in it.
To Cleo's surprise, the passing animal spoke to her. She stoped her tearing at the plastic and lifted her head, twisting her ears around to listen to the words. Little miss queen of the castle chuckled, then turned around to inspect her opponent. The she-cat was a pretty brown tabby with searing icy eyes. Cleo remained by the trash bag and sat back on her haunches, gazing at the female before her.
A sly grin spread across her face. It started as a low, rumbling laugh, but grew into a smile. She shook her head in amusement, "And you seem like a cat who knows precisely what she wants." Cleopatra rose and padded toward the arrival, leaving her ground beef behind. If the she-cat had something better to offer, Cleo wasn't one to pass up a more satisfying meal.
"What do you want from me?"
She got right to the point. She didn't want to waste any time. Tail twitching, she made two or three loops around Shika, inspecting her high and low. Cleo approved of what she saw, which gave her reason to share her identity.
"Name's Cleopatra," She remarked, giving a nod of her head. She wanted to appear friendly enough to share knowledge, but not ignorant and immature. She blocked out any far off noises, focusing only on the cat in front of her. Cleo was prepared for anything. If the she-cat wanted a fight, Cleo could give her a fight. However if she wanted something else, she would have to spit it out before Cleo lost intrest and went back to the meal she had scrounged up.

Shika felt the smallest of grins mock her face, finding the cat before her a decent feline. She wasn't stupid, to say the least, and didn't come across as one who thought she was everything under the sun. Well, at least not in an annoying way. Yet.
"And you seem like a cat who knows precisely what she wants."
Something that once might have been a spring filled laugh, twisted from Shika's mouth tainted with darker times as she regarded the cat before her. "Ooo, we have a smart kitty." Shika's tail flicked back and forth, her body relaxed to show no intent of harm or disrespect; not that she gave a lick what cats thought of her tone or choice of words. "I want to know what it is that you want." The dark brown tabby was well aware of her vagueness, well aware that she posed something she rarely gave a piece of fox dung about, but the cat intrigued her. If she was going to bring cats into her group of rogues, and "release" the ones she didn't care about from their current duties, she needed to know the ins and outs of the cats she was recruiting.
This was the first time Shika hadn't done her homework on a cat, (first time for everything, right?), but she wasn't threatened by the lone cat. Didn't see the need to learn about her before making a move like the one she was making now.
As Cleopatra made circles around her, Shika remained still, ears being the only thing that followed the she-cats movements. Once she was finished, Shika found herself angling her head downward, in the smallest of ways, to return the approval. "Ah, yes. I've heard the name once or twice." Coming to her paws, Shika turned away, using her tail as an indication the other should follow. If she didn't, Shika wouldn't loose anything.
"If you want something a bit more substantial, follow me." It wasn't a question, but it wasn't a demand either. Simply, it was a fact. Shika knew of a little wooded area not too far from here, just out of Clan territory. "I imagine you can hunt and talk at the same time." Pausing in her movements, Shika aimed her gaze at Cleopatra, blue eyes locking with yellow-green. There was no judgement, but there was a sense of expectation. For one reason or another Shika believed this cat to be capable.
