WARRIOR CODE

The Warriors Code
~Provided by Spec

Noble warrior who hears StarClan's Call,
Will walk in the light one day over all.

Before all else shall your clan be your life,
And give for its safety your blood in battle's strife.
Though family you'll have and friends may be gained,
No honor above your Clan should be maintained.

Respect be always in each word you say,
And learn to treat all in the same noble way.
Suffer never shall helpless and innocent kit,
And claws must never a Medicine Cat hit.

Territories must each clan maintain,
So the Clan may hunt and fresh-kill be gained.
But paws of a Clan to their own land must stay,
To keep borders secured and marked every day.

Know the prey in your home is StarClan's Gift,
So hunt must you always remembering thrift.
Food first shall go to Clan members in need,
Then may a warrior who hunted then feed.

Never in cold blood shall you cause a loss,
Unless that cat StarClan's code does cross,
Or only by killing may lives dear be saved.
Never soft like those Twoleg-enslaved.

Ceremonies**

To call a Clan meeting

LEADER: "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join here [insert phrase appropriate to clan] for a clan meeting."

Kit to Apprentice

LEADER: "We are here today to give [Number of Kits] their apprentice name/s. Come forward

LEADER: "[Apprentice's Name], come here."
APPRENTICE: The apprentice then comes forward to join the Clan Leader.
LEADER: "[Apprentice's Name], [reason that the choice to raise the apprentice to warrior must be explained here]. It is time for you to become a warrior. I, [Leader's Name], leader of [Clan], call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. S/he has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his/her turn. [Apprentice's Name], do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your life?"
APPRENTICE: "I do."
LEADER: "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. [Apprentice's Name], from this moment forward you will be known as [Apprentice's Warrior Name]. StarClan honors your [some virtue of the apprentice-turned-warrior], and we welcome you as a full warrior of [Clan]." The leader then rests their muzzle on the bowed head of the apprentice-turned-warrior
APPRENTICE-TURNED-WARRIOR: Licks their shoulder of the Leader in a respectful manner.
CLAN: Then greets the new warrior by their new name.
NEW WARRIOR: The New Warrior then must stand vigil alone that night, in silence.

Medicine Cat Apprentice to Medicine Cat

LEADER: "[MC Apprentice's Name], come here."
APPRENTICE: The MC apprentice then comes forward to join the Clan Leader.
LEADER: "[MC Apprentice's Name], you have been found worthy by your Mentor and StarClan themselves. It is time for you to receive your name as a fully recognized Medicine Cat. I [Leader's Name], leader of [Clan], call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. S/he has already been found worthy by you, and I commend him/her to you in his/her turn. [MC Apprentice's Name], do you promise to uphold the Warrior's Code?
APPRENTICE: "I do."
LEADER: "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your medicine cat's name. [MC Apprentice's Name], from this moment forward you will be known as [Apprentice's Medicine Cat Name]. StarClan honors your [some virtue of the apprentice-turned-MC], and we welcome you as a medicine cat of [Clan]." The leader then rests their muzzle on the bowed head of the apprentice-turned-MC
APPRENTICE-TURNED-MED CAT: Licks their shoulder of the Leader in a respectful manner.
CLAN: Then greets the new MC by their new name.

Renaming Cats

LEADER: "[Cat Name], Come forward."
CAT: Comes forward, to stand in the appropriate location.
LEADER: "Spirits of StarClan, you know every cat by name. I ask you now to take away the name from the cat you see before you, for it no longer stands for what S/he is... By my authority as Clan leader, and with the approval of our warrior ancestors, I give this cat a new name. From this moment S/he will be known as [Insert New Name Here]." The leader then rests their muzzle on the bowed head of the Cat
CAT: Licks the shoulder of the Leader in a respectful manner.
CLAN: Greets the renamed cat by their new name.

To Select a New Deputy
(At Moonhigh only)

LEADER: "Cats of [Clan], listen and I will appoint the new deputy."
CLAN MEMBERS: Assemble in the appropriate location.
LEADER: "I say these words before StarClan, that the spirits of our ancestors may hear and approve my choice... The new deputy will be [Senior Warrior's Name]."
CLAN MEMBERS: May now greet the deputy in the manner they see fit.

MEDICINE GUIDE

Herbal Guide

Aloa Vera: Use to treat skin problems or burns

Anise: Use to treat colic; can also be used as a mild sedative

Ash: In addition to the possessing laxative and diuretic properties, it may be used externally to draw venom or poison from a wound, and can ease pains and tightness in the chest.

Aspen Tree Bark: Relieves stress

Bay: Rubbing crushed bay leaves of the chest area is supposedly good for chest colds. Be careful, don't let your character ingest this!

Belladonna: Calms spasms and cramps

Borage Leaves: Use to reduce fevers or to help nursing queens increase the amount of their milk. This herb must be fresh!

Borage Seeds:Helps nursing queens increase the amount of their milk. This can be used as a substitute for Borage Leaves if no fresh ones are available.

Burdock Leaves: When chewed and applied to a non-infected area, this herb can speed up the healing process

Burdock Root: Use to fight infection

Catnip: Excellent for troubled breathing, reducing fevers, maternal pains, and inducing conception. The scent of crushed leaves can also ease the trouble cat and induce relaxation and (in some) euphoria.

Caroway: Helps digestion

Chamomile: Calms; relieves stress

Chervil: Can be used to fight infection

Chewed Gumweed: Use to keep treatments on an active feline or to help seal a wound. Be careful, this herb stings!

Cloves: Use to help stop vomiting

Cobwebs: Use to seal wounds and stop bleeding

Coltsfoot: Good for treating shortness of breath

Comfrey Root: Use to help clean wounds

Marigold Petals: Helps to prevent infection. Avoid using this around the eyes as it can cause major irritations!

Daisy Leaves: When crushed, they can be used to soothe aching joints

Deathberries/Nightshade: For use when a cat can not be saved

Dock Leaves: If a cat is trapped or something is stuck on them, this can help ease them out when crushed

Ferns: Good for cleaning wounds

Feverfew: Cools fevers and eases head pains

Garlic: Good for eliminating parasites

Ginger: Good for treating stomach aches

Goldenrod: Use to soothe aching joints

Goldenrod Juice: Can be used as a mild painkiller

Grass: Good cure for upset stomachs

Hawthorne Berries: Good for treating indigestion. Be careful, for they look very similar to Nightshade!

Honey: Good for treating sore throats and smoke inhalation. This can also be used to disguise the taste of bitter herbs.

Hops: Help relieve stress

Hornbeam: Can be used to treat depression

Horsetail: Can be used to treat infected wounds

Juniper: Can be used to ease coughs, other respiratory problems and stomach pain; it can also serve as a counter poison. It can also induce miscarriages, and so should not be used on a pregnant queen.

Lady's Mantle: Use with cobwebs to help stop bleeding

Lamb's Ear: Can be used to regain strength

Lavender: Has a strong effect against head and throat aches. It is soothing, relieves fatigue and eases rheumatic joints. It can be used to kill parasites in a cat's fur and skin. It also induces miscarriages, and so should not be used on a pregnant queen.

Marigold Leaves: Dressing for wounds

Marigold Petals: Helps to fight infections

Milkweed Juice: Good for treating wounds, however it should not be ingested.

Poppy: Can be consumed to remove pain, aid sleep, and relieve coughs. Caution and moderation in its use is advised, as poppy can become addictive.

Ragwort: Can be used to regain strength

Rosemary: Can be used to treat Head/Body Aches

Sacred Root: Soothes upset stomaches

Sage Root: When used with poppy seeds helps cracked pads

Snapdragon Seeds: Good for treating ringworm

Tansy: Good for treating coughs, but can cause miscarriages and thus should not be given to a pregnant queen.

Tansy Leaves: Good for soothing joint pains, but can cause miscarriages and thus should not be given to a pregnant queen.

Thyme: Leaves may be consumed to soothe anxiety, relieve stomach pain, break up mucus, expel worms, and ease breathing. The leaves can also be made into a poultice and applied to inflamed skin or sores to soothe, disinfect, and prevent infection.

Watermint: Good for soothing bellyache

Wild Garlic: Can be used to prevent infection

Willow: The bark may be consumed to ease pain, act against inflammation, and ease diarrhea or fevers. Water from beneath the bark of a flowering tree can help clear visual blurriness when dripped into the eyes, and it may be used to sooth itches.

Windflower Shoots: Good for easing cramps, especially those of a queen

Witch Hazel: Can be used as an energizer

Wormood:Can be used as a painkiller when chewed

Yarrow: When eaten, yarrow will induce vomiting, and should be used if a cat has eaten something it shouldn't have. Yarrow can also be applied externally to wounds to relieve pain, prevent infection. However, it can cause death if given to a cat who is very sick.
