Welcome to the plots section of FoF! This is one of the most important places because it tells you want we're doing here on FoF.[/color]
Getting a plot created on FoF is simple and easy, but it's very important you do so correctly or you'll make things very difficult for yourself. This simple guide will help you use the new system and, in doing so, increase the chances that your plot will be seen and participated in.
Types of Plots
There are five types of plots. Here are some guidelines as to how to apply to them, as well as a description for them.
Underlying Plots
These plots are not plots in the traditional sense, because they usually don't require people to apply for roles or organise anything in particular. Instead, they are often ideas aimed at changing the dynamics of roleplay, sitewide. Commonly, these include ways for the clan relationships to develop (i.e Meadowclan and Fogclan become allied after Pineclan and Steamclan steal from them.) or for the whole game of survival to change. We don't usually plan these, but uhhhhh... ya never know? This is more the natural progression of rp dynamics.
Main Plots
This describes a plot that affects all the clans and cats in some way or another. This usually involves clan relations (physical, rpable ones, for examples wars or grudges) or a non-feline danger, and they will probably influence all rpers and their cats. Normally the Admins will come up with these and take opinions from members, but feel free to suggest one. These plots may or may not have a Plot subboard dedicated to them, depending on the technicalities of each plot.
Clan Plots
This involves one clan only. This usually causes turmoil for one clan only and effects the others little or not at all (although, in some cases, it may develop to the point where other clans get involved). For example, a clan may become corrupt, have a traitor in their midst or face problems such as sickness or other hardships befall them. We're always looking for suggestions, so feel free to apply to these. These plots often get their own, dedicated subboard.
Character Plots
These are common. They are usually plots involving a small group of cats. These are usually things like cats switching clans, having forbidden romances and whatever other crazy things you come up with. These are easy to make and fun, and are accepted more often than not.
Currently we already have an Underlying plot, but feel free to suggest one for your characters or clans. Or suggest one for the next Main or Underlying, if you can see some logical progressions.
With these in mind...
How to apply for a plot and label your board
When you make a plot, please include in the title a few things. What type of plot it is, who it will affect, and a short thing about it.
Following this format is advisable:
{Plot type} Short description of plot [Who it involves]
[/size]
E.g
{main plot} twolegs invading? [all clans]
{underlying} FogClan and PineClan to wage war on other clans [all clans]
{clan plot} PineClan disease [pineclan]
For character plots, it is acceptable just to list who it involves and their clans:
{character plot} Nightfur [pineclan] x Falconclaw [streamclan] [forbidden?]
What to include in your plot board
We're not gonna formalise the plot system, because that takes the fun out of creating plots. However, for Main plots and significantly complicated Clan plots, you will have to give us significantly more details. In your plot thread (if you are aiming to get it accepted!), we need:
- A brief description of the plot, including how it will start (and progress, if it's appropriate). If possible, this should also explain the roles of specific cats in the plot (especially if it's a clan or character plot)
- A list of cats already involved and their roleplayers
- It should list clearly whether the plot is looking for new applicants or closed
- If the plot is open to new applicants, we need a formalised way of applying to join. This should be a short form for people to fill out. Managing your plot will be your responsibility.
Have these in there, and we won't have to ask you to add more to it.
Acception process
Your plot may be accepted or rejected or, as in a usual case, be critted to ensure it holds water and isn't OOC or unsuitable for FoF. CHARACTER PLOTS, PARTICULARLY MATES, ARE USUALLY ACCEPTED. Only admins may accept plots, and they are usually discussed between us before an answer is given. Don't worry :3 It's not nearly as scary as it sounds.
Before getting an admin to check things over, you may want to plan your plot and gain applicants in the 'Plot Planning area'. Admins will not crit plots in this area unless you specifically ask them to, and even then they cannot be accepted.
To start the process of getting your plot accepted, you should post your application in the 'Plot Processing area'. Here, it will be checked over by an admin and be critted.
Accepted plots will then go to one of two areas. 'Accepted OPEN plots' are plots which require new applicants or people to contribute ideas towards it. 'Accepted CLOSED plots' are plots not looking for applicants or contributors. Your plot will be placed in the most appropriate one based on what you said in your plot application thread.
If your plot no longer needs applicants and it is in the OPEN area, please tell an admin and they will move it to the CLOSED area.
And that's it HAPPY PLOTTING!
