! Forest of Fate has four categories for the “of the month” award. Admittedly, these aren’t always updated monthly. But we try, we try. Most of the time the staff members will decide on the winner of each category, however, occasionally we will open up a poll for members to vote on who they think should be the ~OTM for whatever category.

! The four sections are Member, Character, Thread, and Most Improved.

! Members of the Months are always friendly, active, and consistent with their role playing/OOC activeness. These are the above and beyond cast here at Forest of Fate, the people who really have dedication to this place. Anyone can get this award, they just need to fill all the requirements for being nominated and then win by majority vote. If you, as a member, feel there is someone who really should be nominated, but it’s not an open voting round, just PM a staff member about it. That person, if eligible, will be tossed in the discussion.

! A Member of the Month must be active. We like to see them around everyday or so, with a little leeway. Their name tends to always be in the “Users Active in the Last 24 Hours” box and they can often be seen chatting on the chatbox.
! Being friendly is one of the biggest ways to win the award. Being a generally good-natured person can earn you big points in being considered. And not just when staff are around, either. Because you never know when someone is lurking.
! Role playing frequently shows you’re dedicated and active toward the site. Making characters, participating in plots, and making new threads all are ways to get the staffs’ attention to, yes, you do care a lot about this place.

! A Character of the Month is normally one that stood out from the get-go. One that made the admins go “wow” as they accepted them. These are the characters that have real depth to them and obviously a lot of effort. Cats who are role played often and have all their three threads filled up are marked down by the staff members and are quite often the first cats suggested for Character of the Month.

! Role playing your cat a lot is the easiest way to get the award. Also, if your cat does something big in the role plays, like moving a plot along or discovering a new plot, their chance of getting nominated shoots up.
! Having a dedicated bio for your character, one that’s updated constantly and really describes you cat (a little flair never hurts, either) is another topic we look at. The staff like seeing people keeping up with their characters and not leaving them in dust.

! The Thread of the Month is a thread that’s posted to often, has deep interaction between characters, and really stands out among the other threads. Having big things in the thread that aid to the plot or develop a character or even cause conflict are big considerations when the staff are reading through each thread, looking for the one that would be perfect for that month’s Thread of the Month.

! Get people to role play in it! Don’t just make a thread and have it sit there; ask others to post in it. Create an idea of where it’s going to go, as well. Having a role play with nothing to direct it is no fun.
! Be accurate to the setting. Both clan settings and overall settings, we don’t like to see a thread that has it snowing in the middle of Leaf-Bare when the setting says it’s a dry Green-Leaf.
! Realistic things going on in the thread, too. No flying animals or a bunch of foxes attacking with only one cat driving them out. As well, make sure that there’s no rule breaking going on and that the thread is rated properly.

! Most Improved is simply how staff acknowledge those who have gotten better here at Forest of Fate. It’s not difficult to win this, just excel in making bios and role playing over time. Occasionally, if there are no “most improved”, this could be replaced with some other category, such as couple or OOC master.
