Where was he?
Batpaw padded back and forth near the entrance of the Streamclan camp. Her tail swished around her paws, as she turned around once again to face the other side of camp. Her brown paws were restless, and she wanted to hurry up and get this training session over with. She would much rather be in the camp, talking to her fellow clan mates over running through the territory by her mentor- who she had never really spoken with in the first place. She took a deep breath and sat down. No need to get my fur in a knot, im sure he'll be here soon. She began grooming her chest fur, once again telling herself that there had to be a good reason.
Her tail curled around her paws as she looked around the camp, spotting familiar faces as her eyes grazed the camp. A few cats were sitting by the prey pile, some were laying on some rocks- socializing, while others were sitting in their own circles. surely speaking about warrior matters that apprentices shouldn't involve themselves in! She thought, huffing a bit as a tiny scowl hinted on her muzzle. Just because im an apprentice does not mean that i do not have something important to say! She turned her head away from the cats as one began to give her a stern look- as if saying that she was a creepy she-cat for looking at them while they spoke! Well, she could look if she wanted to, but she didn't want to waste her eyesight on them any longer.
She hoped her mentor would raise her spirits a bit, and perhaps make this day a bit more interesting. She had to admit, she was being a bit of a grump. Guess i woke up on the wrong side of the den this morning.

White claws flashed into the water, hooked and the pulled out. It took all the strength in his one arm to pull out the fish that was caught there. Slippery scales slipped into his jaws as he clamped down, choking the life force out of the fish. When it stopped flopping around he dropped his arm, smiling around the fish. He had done it! He had been laying by the stream all day waiting for this giant to swim into his grasps. Finally, finally! He could now go and present his prize to Speckledfur. His cheeks reddened as he thought of the she-cat, about how when he gave her his fish how she would smile and laugh. Maybe... maybe she would even return his feelings. With his head and tail high, he began his trek back to camp.
The orange and white cat jumped to his paws, startled out of his dreams by a nagging thought. Shaking the sleep from his brain he squinted his hazel eyes as he thought about what it was. Then, it hit him. His apprentice! He was late! Cursing under his breath Vinetail shot out of the warriors den and bolted right for the entrance of camp. He heard a few startled hisses as he scared a few cats, but he didn't care. He hadn't even bothered to calm his fur down. The toms orange tail wagged as he skidded to a stop in front of a brown she-cat. "Batclaw! I am so sorry that I'm late," shuffling his paws, he lowered his head and looked up at her through his lashes. "I slept in... I know its a terrible excuse," His ears twitched, his whole body stood erect. "Because I was late, I will let you pick what kind of training you want to do today. Maybe they will make up for me being such a horrible mentor. On our first day too!"
Vinetail smiled, shaking his head. "Let's go, you can tell me your decision as soon as we get out of here," and with that, the tom took off, a soft laugh trailing behind him in the wind. He ran out of camp and for a few more heartbeats before he once again skidded to a stop. Turning around to face his apprentice, he finally smoothed down his mangled coat. Once he was finished he looked up, not saying anything. He had told her her tell him her decision once they were out of camp, which they were now. He rose a brow comically, as if to say 'So?' His lips twitched up into a smile, excitement making his paws tingle.

Batpaw sighed, looking off into the trees outside the camp once again. She imagined life outside the camp; running through the trees, following the abundant smell of prey, and listening to the sounds of the forest. Borrrrrrring. She thought grumpily, not being able to imagine the forest being better than the camp at any time, ever. Her mind was suddenly distracted from her thoughts as a group of cat's hissing caught her attention. She looked over, her ears alert as she saw a white tom with orange hints run out of the warriors den- right in her direction. She blinked a few times as he approached, then realized that this was her mentor.
" Batclaw! I am so sorry that I'm late, I slept in... I know its a terrible excuse, "
One ear flicked back. Just a bit. Then again, i'd rather be sleeping than be here. She sighed almost silently before listening to him speak again- and he seemed a bit down. She felt a tad bit sorry for him, but didnt blame him one bit; she would have slept in too if she thought it wouldn't hurt her new apprentice credibility.
"Because I was late, I will let you pick what kind of training you want to do today. Maybe they will make up for me being such a horrible mentor. On our first day too!"
Training. Wonderful. She nodded to the tom, knowing that he probably expected that to make up for an error he made. Sense there was no error to her, it didn't really fix anything. I guess it lets me choose which ever one i want to do more than the other, which isnt much in the first place. She thought, somewhat positively.
"Let's go, you can tell me your decision as soon as we get out of here."
She watched as the tom smiled a bit before starting to run out of the camp, laughter on his breath. Batpaw blinked and quickly chased after her mentor, trying her best to keep up. Her paws and body were not prepared for this sudden action, and she almost fell once or twice. She was almost completely caught up when her mentor suddenly stopped. Her eyes widening a bit, she tried to stop instantly and almost tripped- but quickly regained her balance and made a few simple hops instead: looking a bit more like a rabbit than an apprentice. After she took a deep breath, gaining back her sense of control after that random exercise, she looked up at Mottletail- he seemed to be waiting for her to say something. What's he all smiley about? she thought, before remembering that she was supposed to be choosing what they do. If its battle training, ill get my fur all dirty. If we go hunting, i might have to deal with getting blood on my fur. she wasn't happy about her options, but decided that one would be better than the other.
" Hunting training. "
