Beliefs |
Raggedpelt's beliefs sometimes end up confusing even himself. Ever since he was a kit, he had always wanted to believe that there was someone... anyone... watching over the other cats. Death couldn't be all there was, right? He believes that if death is just an abrupt end, then there was no point to life, nor morals, nor hope. Everyone would die. But what if there was something else? What if life continued on?
He believes that every action has a reaction; in other words, it's sort of like karma. Bad acts earn bad deeds or events done back, and good acts earn good deed or events back. Working hard means that good things will eventually come, even if it isn't for a while. He also believes that this "eventually" will have to wait until after death, unless another living cat acts it out on their own. Raggedpelt believes in StarClan, but he does not believe in all their power in the other Clans. He believes in a Clan where cats go after death, and StarClan is where the good ones go. The better or more loyal you live your life, the better your life is in StarClan.
He does not, however, believe that StarClan have as much power in the events happening with the other Clans as others would like to believe. Bad things happen to good cats not because they deserve it, but because StarClan cannot control it. StarClan cannot make an insane cat go sane for a few seconds and spare another cat; StarClan cannot stop a drought when nature has already been planning it; StarClan cannot stop a kit from freezing to death in Lead Bare. StarClan are powerless; they can send signs and omens, but after that they have to sit back. Again, these are his beliefs, and he sometimes wonders about them. What if StarClan kills a kit because it would have been evil? Preposterous! StarClan cannot end the life of a kit because of a possibility in the future... They can only warn the others to be wary... he'll think, arguing with his own logic to himself. He also believes that StarClan can be wrong.
To summarize: He believes in StarClan and that good cats will be rewarded after death, but that StarClan has little or not power on earth and that they can only sit and watch/ send omens or warnings.
Morality-wise, Raggedpelt believes that every cat has a loyalty to their leader. Rouges are loyal to themselves because they are their own leader. Kittypets are loyal to their Twolegs, because their Twolegs care for them. By choosing the life of a Clan cat, he has sworn loyalty to his leader. If and when he disagrees with the leader, he has to respect their decision and try to view it from their point. However, the loyalty of their cats and their position does not give a leader the right to sacrifice the lives of his/her Clanmates for foolish reasons or wasted efforts. If the leader is unfit the lead the Clan because of insanity, stupidity, or anything else, then it is the duty of the Clan to choose a new one.
In the case of Cedarstar and the rumored favoritism, he does not like the idea of favoritism in the Clan and thinks that it may results in poor choices for certain ranks, and that could harm the Clan. Still, until someone who is unsuitable is chosen for a high rank, there is no proof and his loyalty means that he should respect the decision of his leader. In the affair, he claims neutrality, but if a Civil War arose then he would have to analyze the situation at the time.
Parents |
Mother: Iris [NP]. Kittypet. Slender black she-cat with angular yellow eyes. She is very superstitious. She doesn't believe in StarClan, but she does believe in evil things roaming around that can harm cats. She thinks that these 'evil things' are what create illness and insanity. Alive.
Father: Snowpelt [NP]. MeadowClan warrior. Long-limbed white tom with amber eyes. Strong belief in StarClan, and believes that bad things are a result of StarClan being unpleased. Deceased.
Siblings |
Brother: Cruel [NP]. Named to scare away 'evil things'. White tom with angular yellow eyes. Doesn't believe in StarClan or the evil things, but that power means everything. Cunning and clever. Alive?
Sister:MurderLily [NP]. Named to scar away 'evil things' until her new Twolegs changed her name. Slender black she-cat with large yellow eyes. Doesn't know what to believe in. She was adopted from the box outside her former Twoleg's nest. Alive.
Other Kin |
Raggedpelt doesn't know if he has any other kin. Neither his mother not his father mentioned specific siblings or parents, however Snow pelt mentioned having relatives in MeadowClan.
Mate |
Raggedpelt does not have a mate yet.
Crush |
Raggedpelt does not have a crush yet, however if he develops one then it will be kinda obvious...
Kits |
Raggedpelt doesn't have any kits yet.
Apprentice/Mentor |
Raggedpelt does not have an apprentice yet, however I've played him before and he had the most rebellious apprentice. It was hilarious because while Raggedpelt was super strict, the apprentice was super stubborn.
Appearance |
Raggedpelt is a tall yet skinny cat. He has long limbs like many MeadowClan cats, and a long tail for balance. He is rather scrawny, so while he is slightly taller than most cats, he is not 'bigger' than other cats, and has a disadvantage strength-wise because of how thin he is. As a younger cat, the other kittypets thought that Malice was always ill-looking because of his build and pelt. He has short black fur, that always seemed to look a little ragged or rustled; hence his name. He doesn't shed much in the summer or get a significantly large amount fur in the winter. His pelt is completely, solid black, made more for camouflage in the shadows or the night than anything else. His mother's black coat was dominant over his father's white coat, which is why two of their kits had black pelts.
Raggedpelt has amber eyes, which stand out against his dark pelt. Sometimes, they appear to be almost red depending on the amount of light in his surroundings and where he it. Out against the green of the grass and trees they look red, but against anything red it is easier to see their true color. Because of a past fight with his brother, he only has one eye (his left eye). This is a slight disadvantage because with only one eyes depth perception is not as great as with both eyes. However, he's learned to use his other senses to get around this (for the most part). At times he feels that he is weak because of it, which is not good for self-confidence. He tries to keep his vision a secrete because he wants to stay a warrior and help his new Clan. The spot where his right eye once was is not a scarred patch on his face; his eyelid caves in slightly because there is no longer anything in the socket.
Raggedpelt has long, wiry black whiskers that seem to twist slightly. He has a generally stiff and strict appearance, and usually sits up straight with muscles tensed just slightly. Rarely does he ever appear to be relaxing, even when he really is doing so. He tries to hide his emotions and keep a stoic expression, but his feelings can almost always be red through his eyes when he truly is hurt. It's really easy to spot. He has large ears, which kits always comment as looking goofy on him (he doesn't mind, though, he thinks it's cute when they say he looks goofy. He would rather be goofy than threatening).
((I'll draw a picture of him and post it up somewhere when I finish))
Personality |
Raggedpelt seems to be a very cold to those who have never met him. He can be a bit snappy at times, and has a short-temper when it comes to dealing with other cats. Kits are different; he tries never to snap at kits, although they make him a little nervous because he's afraid he might accidentally step on one of the tiny things or one might crawl on him and fall off. Kits really melt his heart. He is not quick to get attached to people, and it takes him a little while to really befriend people. He isn't antisocial; he just likes his own space and some quiet time. He has a strong sense of loyalty and tries to respect all cats, even if he doesn't like them*. He tries to see eye-to-eye with others, but sometimes his temper gets the best of him. He seeks knowledge rather than physical strength, and tries to figure out different ways around things.
Raggedpelt was not raised to be the way he is, or at least not by his mother. This is once of the reasons he has such trouble interacting with new cats he meets; while he could teach himself to seek knowledge and practice respect, he never had anyone else to really practice dealing with or interacting with (hence his short-temper, he's used to plenty of space and with other cats he doesn't get as much alone time as he used to). His mother wanted him to be more like his brother, cruel and cunning, willing to go behind other's backs and stab them from behind. His father taught him about the morals of the Clans and StarClan, which gave him an idea of what he wanted to be. Clan morals appealed to him and gave him more of a purpose than just destroying things and hurting other cats.
Raggedpelt is a bit shy around his new Clan mates, although his 'shyness' doesn't seem like shyness at all. His 'shyness' is keeping a cold attitude as to not show weakness and keeping dead quiet unless spoken to (or fussing at an apprentice he catches doing something they aren't supposed to). If a new cat tries to introduce themself to him, though, he will likely be caught off guard and is a very good listener. He actually really polite, he just looks a little mean, but he quite nice once you get to know him. He is part kittypet, and was born in a Twoleg nest, so he doesn't expect much respect or politeness to him, but he isn't whiny about it and will either deal with it or make a smart remark back; he doesn't whine about it ("oh poor me, why me? boohoo") and he wont start fights (he will fight back, though, if somebody starts something). He is a good listener and enjoys hearing other cats talk because it's something he's not used to. He has a short temper once provoked, but is a little difficult to provoke purposely. He's more annoyed by stubborn apprentices or cats that talk too much and too fast rather than someone trying to call him names or start a fight.
Raggedpelt respects all his Clanmates (or at least he tries to). He recognizes that they've let him in their Clan, an action they didn't have to take, which is why he doesn't tend to mind the name-calling. He will defend his Clan with his life; even if there are cats he doesn't like, he thinks about the others who need him to protect them. He reminds himself that his sister needed him, and that when he didn't have anything to protect he was miserable. Having something to protect and strive for gives him purpose, which is the main thing he seeks to have.
He tries to hide his scar as much as possible, or more so the vision issue it's left him with. He also tries to hide the existence of his brother, let alone the fact that Cruel was one of the meanest cats he had ever met. He has two main goals: one, to find a purpose (which is to protect his Clan), and two, to find out the truth about StarClan and his beliefs (which he has yet to accomplish, and probably wont until after death). He has a soft spot for kits, as stated above, and looses all hostility or coldness in his appearance when he's seen around the little guys, mostly because he'll let them walk all over him or he'll pretend that they beat him in a fight and fall over onto his back. He doesn't always agree with the leader, but knows tries to respect their decisions and see from their view. When he disproves, though, he does make it known in how he reacts to it, often scowling and stating facts that go against (directly to the decision maker, not behind their back). He'll try to convince them otherwise, but if he fails he'll just have to grit his teeth and deal with it.
When Raggedpelt has an opinion, he will make it known, but he wont shove it down your throat and try to force you to agree. He does have a bit of pride, though, and doesn't like being proved wrong, which is why his opinions are often formed slowly and considered a long time before being stated. He cannot leave room for error. This can be a disadvantage when it comes to quick decisions, since he isn't good with being rushed. He will strongly defend his decision until actual facts (not other opinions) disproves it. He will accept defeat (grudgingly), and if proven wrong will hesitate to form another opinion. He tries to see from all points of the argument, but sometimes that gets away from him... Like for example, if a kit or defenseless cat is hurt, he will often lean toward their side and rush to rash decisions. He feels more comfortable and confident about what he thinks when given a long time to consider it. He likes hearing about other beliefs, but instead of completely replacing his if he hears something that sways him, he will modify them just slightly or add 'if's or 'then's.
Overall, he looks a lot colder and meaner than he actually is. He has a soft spot for kits, but really doesn't like apprentices or new warriors. He acts a bit older than he is, and while he tries to respect all other cats he does make sure to voice his own opinion.
Skills |
Raggedpelt is very good at running, and climbing. His long legs, thin build, and light weight make him a very swift cat. He uses swiftness to his advantage in fights, often trying to make up for what he lacks in strength by sending whole flurries of scratches and bites all at once to overwhelm the opponent. Another skill he has is climbing. He has abnormally long claws which provides plenty of grappling (they aren't for battle), and his skinny build make it easy for him to slip between twisted branches or brambles. His hearing and scent are excellent, making him a good tracker, and his dark coat helps him camouflage during the night or in the shadows. He is clever and very smart, since he spent most of his younger years learning about how things worked rather than how to fight.
Now, for his disadvantages. His scrawny body is not good for fighting, and his physical strength is lacking when he gets in a fight. A lot of other cats can beat him when it comes to physical strength. He doesn't know many fighting tactics, so a lot of what he does in a battle is something he came up with on the spot to try and defend himself. A commonly used attack would be something new to him. He also can't swim very well; he can swim in a small stream, but quick waves or strong tides can carry him off or pull him under more easily than a larger cat. His knowledge of Two legs sometimes proves to be a nuisance. His Twoleg always described the black path as a road, and the metal thing as a car, so when someone yells "don't stand on the ThunderPath, there's a monster coming!" Raggedpelt will likely look over at them like they're crazy and it'll take him some time to remember the terms he's learned. His weakness for kits means that he will jeopardize a whole mission to turn back and save one kit from falling into a dangerous ditch or getting caught by a hawk. He'll risk his own life for them... which, statistically speaking isn't a good thing in certain situations. Another weakness is his slight depth perception issue, since he only has one eye. He tries to hide this as much as possible, and wont mention it to the leader or even the Medicine Cat.
Raggedpelt is very good with scheming and planning, especially when it comes to battle tactics. He is good at memorizing his surroundings and getting a good baring of what's going on. He often over analyzes, rather than under analyzes. So, he would likely be good in position as a sort of adviser/battle-planner.
History |
Raggedpelt was born as a kittypet, born in the nest of a Twoleg cutter (vet). He grew up with a lot of free space and plenty of healthy exercise because his Twoleg knew a lot about cats. She kept him and his brother along with their mom, but put their sister up for adoption. His mother, Iris, was very superstitious. She believed that there were many evil things in the world that could make cats sick or hurt them, so she gave her kits mean-sounding names to try and scare away those evil things. She was a little crazy, and tried to make her kits as mean-spirited and cruel as possible, believing that it was the only way to get ahead in the world. While Cruel eagerly took to such a lifestyle, Malice preferred to to try and find another kind of life.
Malice's father, Snowpelt, showed up to visit a few times and taught him about the Clans. He started thinking about StarClan and what would happen after he died, which annoyed his brother. Cruel, who had decided to become an alley dweller and bully the other kittypets. Cruel started fighting with Malice, often attacking him from behind or sneaking up on him when he was napping. He would get bad wounds, which his Twoleg the cutter would tend to. One day, Cruel went a bit too far, and managed to claw out his brother's eye. Luckily, his Twoleg kept it from getting infected, but after that Malice decided to leave his home and his brother behind. He asked his father about where he could find the Clans, and set off to join MeadowClan.
Shortly after he joined, his father died of greencough. He didn't want to change his name, just in case his sister ever heard of the Clans and their cats. He hoped that she would recognize 'Malice' in it, since most Clan cats didn't have names like that. He explained what it meant to the other cats, and why it was given to them. He also requested that it not be changed. Raggedpaw started training a few moons later than the other cats, so he wasn't made a warrior until he was fifteen moons because his training extended. He's found purpose in the Clans and wants to do his best to defend it. He is still learning a few things, like more about the other Clans and more fighting techniques.
Critique level | Criticize all aspects of my character, please. Whenever I'm an admin or bio checker on a site, I always feel nervous about criticizing, but I really want to know what I can change to make things better! ^^ Just let me know what to change and I'll do it right away! I know that he's an odd cat and has a bunch of borderline things, like his amber eyes or kittypet life, but I'd really love it if I could RP him. I've played him on two other sites.
*them. Sorry about that.
