Pausing dead still, Silverpaw's ears twitched. Where was she? This wasn't enemy territory, but it was familiar. Things looked scary. Looking up she gaped at how tall the trees were, the scent of pine filled her nose and she looked around to hear rustling in the undergrowth. "Littleflower, is that you?" She mewed, taking a step closer to it. She let out a wail of alarm when out came a squirrel that dashed up into the trees.
Looking around again, a figure of a cat appeared and her eyes sparkled happily. "Littleflower!" She mewed when she had recognise her mentor. "it's you, I was worried then." Instantly, she felt embarrassed. "I'll let you take lead, I got lost..." She flicked her tail, hoping her mentor didn't see her get startled by the squirrel. Noticing behind Littleflower was the camp entrance just a few fox-lengths away she looked down and hit her paw awkwardly onto a stone making it roll. "Oh..."

Littleflower purred. Silverpaw hadn't gotten ten foxlengths out of the camp and she was already lost. She understood how that felt.... "Thrushfoot!!!! Thrushfoot! How am I doing? I'm doing so good I think! I already know my way around the territory! See! See! OOF!" Littlepaw had just collided head on with a tree. She shook her whiskers out and looked up at her mentor. Thrushfoot shook his head. "If you would spend less time galloping about and bragging maybe we would get something productive on it's way!" He sighed and continued walking ahead. Turning back, he called, "Don't get lost, Littlepaw! You are well on your way to doing so!" Littlepaw sighed. She hadn't meant to run into the tree. When she had an apprentice she'd be alot more understanding! That's for sure!Littleflower sighed, her mentor had snapped at her when she stepped out of line. She had promised herself she'd never do that with her future apprentice. And here her apprentice was, at her feet, looking almost terrified. Littleflower tried to make her voice sound calm and not humored. She didn't want to offend little Silverpaw. " It's okay, Silverpaw. I did something similar on my first training session. You'll get better don't worry. Now, let's go take care of the border. Some scented marks may need some freshening up!" Littleflower gazed down at Silverpaw. It's funny how much she reminded Littleflower of herself. [bg=cbc8bf][atrb=width,469,true] [atrb=border,0,true] |

Silverpaw's beautiful blue eyes sparkled magnificently and she nodded towards her mentor. Feeling closer than before, Silverpaw instantly ruffled her fur with excitement. Suddenly, embarrassment flickered across her body and made her shiver with anxiety. Following after her mentor, she simply nodded.
Her ears twitched side to side, being aware of her surroundings. Her first day out from kithood and already she had been lost and made a fool of herself, but it seemed like Littleflower also had been through this when she was just an apprentice. With age, Silverpaw knew she too would get used to this area and know her way around. She brushed her pelt against her mentors pelt and copied her movement, moving in time.
"How long did it take you to get used to this territory?" She asked, tilting her head and blinking.

Littleflower pushed her way through the undergrowth. She stopped and parted it for Silverpaw to step through. Her hazel eyes glittered. It felt awesome to be a mentor, she loved having a young cat to teach. " Well, let's see. I was about 10-11 moons before I fully understood the territory. So you have about 2-3 more moons before you completely get it. Trust me, your smart so you may get it faster than me. You already have your senses naturally a part of you. I had to train mine into myself. You're forest born and I'm not. It may be easier for you." "Come, Littlepaw there is much to learn!" Thrushfoot called back at his calico apprentice. He continued walking, not paying much attention to her. Littlepaw pranced after him, when her foot suddenly sunk into marshy ground. Littlepaw glanced ahead. I'll just catch up with him, she thought. She followed the marsh up hill until she came to a dense undergrowth. Glancing back she crawled through it. She gasped at what she saw. A creek trickled out of a rock and little pools formed in it. The were pines all around and a small clearing. The floor was covered with pine needles, but little flowers poked through it. This was amazing, there was no scent of cats here, but she hadn't crossed their scent border. Not very many cats knew about this she bet. This was her place. Hers! And no one elses!Snapping back into reality, Littleflower brought Silverpaw to the same small run-off that Littleflower had found as an apprentice. She had purposely brought Silverpaw here, off the normal trail. There were a couple pools with little tadpoles swimming about inside. Littleflower glanced back at her apprentice. " Sneak attack!" She playfully grabbed Silverpaw and tossed her into one of the pools. She gazed down at the young she-cat. " What? You don't have to be a StreamClanner to love water!" Littelflower purred and batted a pawful of water at Silverpaw and darted into a clear spot in the forest, her haunches raised, ready for Silverpaw to strike back. I was about 10-11 moons before I fully understood the territory. Littleflower was so smart, Silverpaw's eyes glimmered at the wisdom leaving her mentor. She had been following her mentor and not paying much attention, except wondering what her mentor's apprentice life was with Thrushfoot. Suddenly, she was drenched and that pulled her from her daze.
Her blue eyes looked down at the water, watching the black little tadpoles run away. Flicking the droplets of water off her tail she mewed slightly. Did she just walk into a pool? What? You don't have to be a StreamClanner to love water! "Did you chuck me into this?" she gaped, leaping out of the pool and shaking her fur, getting her mentor wet. "Streamclan cats are fish eaters! I've never tried fish before..." She looked around at the pool, seeing a minnow slowly leave the cover to see if danger was gone. Suddenly, Silverpaw dunk her maw into the pool and grabbed the fish. Lifting her head, she looked at her mentor. Water drifting off her fur and splashing against the water and making ripples with the fish lying limp between her teeth. Dropping it she licked her fur embarrassed and wrapped her tail around her forepaws. "That fish tastes weird, but delicious." She grinned widely at her mentor and tilted her head, shoving it closer to her mentor with one white paw. " You must if caught so many fish that this one looks like nothing to what you caught as an apprentice, I am sure! "

Littleflower gazed down at the lifeless fish in amazement. Had Silverpaw honestly just caught that? " Silverpaw, I am amazed that you caught that! Not many apprentices can catch the first prey they set eyes on. It usually takes MOONS of practice! I can tell you are going to be an extraordinary hunter! And I have never caught a fish, not that I have tried. I haven't eaten one either. Tell you what, I'll catch one so I can see how it tastes. We can eat them together!" Littleflower purred. She stalked over to the pool and lowered her head. The tips of her neck fur brushed the water, sending small ripples across the still surface. A smaller fish emerged from the rocks and peeked it's way around. Littleflower smashed her paw in after it trying to hook it on her claws. The fish darted away, leaving a frustrated Littleflower behind. Littleflower hung her head. Feeling very disappointed in herself. Littlepaw lowered herself to the ground. She eyed the small finch in front of her. She was determined to catch this one. It was already her second month as an apprentice and she still hadn't caught her first prey! The other apprentices were already teasing her and she was tired of it. She lept barely brushing the birds tail with her outstretched claws. The bird flew away calling out the sound of alarm. Littlepaw landed in a heap. The ground shook when she fell and she could feel the vibrations of every little mouse scurrying away. She rolled onto her back to see her mentor standing over her. Thrushfoot definitely looked less than pleased. " What in the world do you think you are doing?!" He bellowed. "You have just scared away every piece of prey within a square mile of here. I am very disappointed in you! You are ten moons and you haven't even caught your first piece of prey! You are a disappointment to all cats!" He stalked off angrily. Littlepaw stood her heart sunk. Thrushfoot hated her, she would never make him proud! Ever. Littleflower sighed. " I've never been the best hunter, Silverpaw. The first thing I thought when I received an apprentice was that I was going to let you down. I didn't catch my first prey until I was twelve moons. I was afraid that I was going to disappoint you just like I disappointed Thrushfoot." She dropped herself in a heap. Silverpaw must think she was a joke and a failure, [bg=cbc8bf][atrb=width,469,true] [atrb=border,0,true] |

"No cat is perfect." Silverpaw said, her blue eyes filled with sincere trust. "You must be a good warrior to have an apprentice. I am sure you'll do the best!" Her fur ruffled happily. "Well, I guess because my fur is silver I should be in stream clan because I blend with the water a bit..." She trailed off, thinking." That's maybe why the minnow didn't see me... " She flicked her tail. " I was really bad at fighting, even as a kit... " She frowned, flattening her ears. "So that's why I wanted to choose hunting... Littleflower, why don't we train to hunt together? " She tilted her head.
"Come on, Silverkit. Fight me!" Dark-kit mewed to her. His fur ruffling. "I don't want too, I can't fight." Silverkit retaliated, hiding near her mother. "Mothtail, get them out of here. Younger kits need to sleep."A white queen said sleepily. "Sorry." Mothtail lead her two kits out. "Dark-kit, I can't fight" Silverkit whined. She squeaked as she was tackled and rolled helplessly around. She could only hunt, Dark-kit could fight.
"I'm sorry, did I space out?" Silverpaw asked. "We could train hunting together." She repeated.

Littleflower purred. Hadn't this wiry little she-cat ever heard the saying you can't teach an old cat new tricks? " Well Silverpaw, I will definitely try to do my best! Tell you what, I'll teach you fight like pro if you teach me to hunt like a pro. You're never to old to learn. I will probably fail at learning, but it is worth a shot!" The wind ruffled Littleflower's fur. She hoped she was a good warrior. She had made so many promises to herself when she was given Silverpaw as an apprentice. She promised she'd always make sure that Silverpaw knew that Littleflower was proud of her. She promised to never be stern and to teach her the best way she could. She wasn't sure how she was doing. She had been trying extra hard today so she didn't start off on the wrong paw with the young she-cat. She took a couple steps forward. " We'd better get started. It looks like a Greenleaf storm is on it's way." Littleflower took a step forward waiting for Silverpaw to follow. Once the blue eyed apprentice was right behind her, Littleflower used her back foot to shove her back into the creek and bounded off. The border is straight through these bushes! Just keep running straight till you see me! Catch me if you can!" Littleflower continued running letting a loud purr escape from her throat. [bg=cbc8bf][atrb=width,469,true] [atrb=border,0,true] |

Silverpaw gasped, marvelled by her mentor's speed. She pawed the ground with her white paws and dashed off after her. Carrying straight on, her ears twitching and she laughed happily.
Her body propelled off the ground and she dashed through the grass, her paws pounding the earth repeatedly as she leaped side to side and leaped into the air, landing onto the rock. She carried going straight, occasionally seeing Littleflower's tail from the distance and meowed softly
Soon she slowly caught up, realising that the border was almost in front of her. She dashed through the bushes and landed next to her Mentor, heart racing rapidly from the adrenaline. "I got you!" She meowed triumphantly.

Her heart was pounding in her chest and she could hear the blood rushing through her ears. Littleflower dropped to the ground. The long tendrils of grass brushed her nose, making it crinkle. She loved the smell of grass. She inhaled it and closed her eyes. She opened her eyes lifted her gaze up to the silver apprentice. Silverpaw was standing over her panting. She looked worn out from running. " And I got you." Littleflower hooked Silverpaw's front paws with hers and lowered her into the grass next to her. " I like laying in the grass. The smell and feel relaxes me. It's how I clear my mind. Sometimes I just let the wind brush through my fur and close my eyes. It almost feels like the wind blows my problems away with it, carrying them far away." Littleflower stretched and curled up. " Do you have a special way to relax, Silverpaw?" Littleflower gave her some time to answer, before standing up. " Okay, place your nose right here." She pressed her paw into the grass along the border. The scent filled her nostrils, but she waited for Silverpaw to put her nose there before telling her why she had her do this. She lifted her paw gingerly and set it back down in front of her. " What can you scent?" She asked, making sure to add some authority to her voice, but keeping it soft at the same time. She gazed down at the young she-cat in front of her, waiting for the response. Silverpaw fell into the grass, letting out a purr happily as the grass brushed against her fur. When she heard her mentor ask her about how she relaxed. She closed her eyes to think, but before she could come up with one she was told to put her nose to the ground to pick out scents.
Lowering her head, she went silent. All she could hear was the cool breeze, her heart beats and her breathing. Closing her eyes she inhaled the grass she lifted her head quickly, ears twitching. Taking a step forward she looked over to her mentor, blue eyes filled with wonder.
"I smell mouse in the distance, catnip near some bushes down south. I smell all sorts, the border to the us. I don't know what clan it is just yet." she batted the grass and blinked as a stone rolled revealing a worm. "What's this? "

Littleflower purred at Silverpaw's curiosity. " That, little apprentice, is a worm. They borrow small little tunnels in the ground and eat dead insects and animals. They play a vital role in the circle of life. They break down dead things, and give nutrients to the ground for the plants." Littleflower searched her apprentice for any signs of misunderstanding. She hoped she hadn't confused the bi-colored little she cat. " Now, how do you mark a border?" She waited for the young she-cat to answer. In the midst of waiting she was brought back to her apprentice days yet again. Thrushfoot gazed at his apprentice, obviously frustrated that she couldn't scent the border line. He didn't like having to explain everything obvious to this kittypet. He sighed trying not get too impatient and explode. "Now, how do you mark a border? Other cats probably should've already explained this to you." Littlepaw crinkled her nose in amusement. She tried not to add too much laughter into her voice and replied. "You take a whizz on it!" Her eyes flashed with amusement, but her crooked smile soon fell. Her mentor obviously hadn't liked this answer.Littleflower waited, wondering what her apprentices answer would be. If it was something humorous like Littleflower had said, she wouldn't be surprised. Silverpaw was showing many similarities to her mentor. But unlike her mentor, Littleflower was determined to be patient and fair with the young she-cat. [bg=cbc8bf][atrb=width,469,true] [atrb=border,0,true] |
