Gorsekit was bored. SOOOOO bored. Bored of causing trouble for her den-mates, bored of annoying her mother, just plain bored. Therefore, she decided (With all the wisdom and knowledge a 3 moon old kit could possess) that she'd find herself something to do, before she went CRAZY. She tumbled out of the nursery, a bundle of legs and paws, and was immediately stopped by her mother.
"And just WHERE do you think YOU'RE going?"
Great Starclan! A kit can't do anything anymore!
"Mama! I'm only going for a walk, I promise I won't go out of camp!" With that, she wandered out into the main camp, mentally deciding where to go; for she intended to keep her promise to her mama and not go out of camp. Suddenly, an idea hit her like a monster would hit a cat. The Elder's Den! Maybe they'd share a mouse with her, and it is always good to go and visit the members of the clan who have done their duties. Respectful, even.
Antpelt (NP, though it makes sense to play her this time :3)

Kitewhisker was dozing, but lightly, as even the tiny pitter-patter of kit paws weaved its way into his old ears and woke him, his pale green eyes open and blinking even in the dim light of the fallen tree that was his den.
His nose soon caught up with his ears, bringing to him an impression of milk, young she-cat, and the faint fish tang that clung to them all. "Gorsekit?" He called, then berated himself mentally. Who else would it be?
"Come in, come in." He called, his voice dry but welcoming. "Thrushfang is...somewhere, so there's plenty of room. The apprentices haven't yet come in to clean but there's some spare moss if you'd like it."
Ah, his...interesting...denmate. He quite liked her, but had the feeling that it was not reciprocated. And she was forever arguing with warriors that despite her leg she could kick their tails into the next moon with one paw tied behind her back so she could get out of camp.
Hmm, maybe he could tell a story about her.

Gorsepaw heard the elder's call and was immediately endeared to him, as she cautiously entered the den after picking up a fish from the fresh-kill pile.
This... This is a REALLY nice place. I'd like to come here more often. If I respect them, they'll return that. Okay, best behaviour... "Thank you, so much, Kitewhisker... I bought you some fresh kill. I was bored and... and I wondered if you'd tell me a story?"

The fish was small, but then again, she was barely three moons. Smiling indulgently, the tuxedo tom bent forward to delicately sink his yellowed fangs into the morsel and drop it in his nest so he could strip it while he talked. The dull salty odor was enticing.
"Of course!" He nodded. He considered himself as expert of a storyteller as a seer now - well, as good of a seer as I once was...
But now was not the time for dark and troubled thoughts.
"I could tell you about Thrushfang." He mused. "Or I could tell you about the Journey and other tales."

Gorsekit was immediately interested as she plopped down none too gently beside the elder, raking some moss from the corner into a nest with her paws. Once this was done, she tucked her tail over her paws, and looked attentively at Kitewhisker.
Isn't it kinda...Scandalous to talk about one of your denmates behind their back? Oh well, there may be an interesting story there. But the Journey... I'd love to hear about that. Lets see if I can press for two!
"I'd love to hear about the journey, please, Whatever the journey is" Gorsekit settled down in her nest of moss, and waited patiently for the elder to start his tale.

[bg=141414][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,500,true]The small tom looked at his companion in surprise, green eyes widening as his white whiskers poofed out. Even as slight in moons as she was, surely she knew the reason they - well, much of them - were here? I guess not. Well, it's always an enjoyable story to tell.
"Why, the Journey was the root of all the Clans! It was long and terrible and - well, what am I blathering about? I'll just tell you."
Taking a deep breath and a bite of the fish, the tom began, but then paused.
"Do you want to hear about the journey in particular, or the whole cause of the Clans themselves? I can tell both stories, but if I just tell you about the Journey I can get in more detail; I've talked to cats who were on it themselves. Whatever you want."
His tail flicked contentedly as he nibbled at the fish, the familiar salty smell coating his nostrils. He then studied Gorsekit, trying to work out what her fate might be purely out of habit. It was strange...he almost felt that unlike most cats, she might actually be in control of her fate. Perhaps it was merely a happy delusion. |

Gorsekit sat listening to her companion, her eyes wide. She settled herself into a comfortable position as she always did before seeing or doing anything important. She rubbed her ear, washing it.
I'm not an ignorant kit, I've just never heard of this 'journey' before! Jeez! When I'm an apprentice, I'll make sure you get all the scrawny kill... Oh wait, i'm being rude. Gorsekit looked at the elder in silence for a moment, willing the thoughts running through her head not to come out her mouth.
"I love detail! Go into detail! Please?"

[bg=141414][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,500,true]Kitewhisker positively beamed - even when he'd told tales to Dovepaw and Stonepaw, Stonepaw had been impatient for action and Dovepaw just wanted the story to continue. This little miss is quite making my day.
"Well," he began happily, despite the grimness of the topic, "I've heard many reports of all the misfortunes cats suffered - starvation, thirst, illness, attack, and a couple of natural disasters. Yet despite all of it, they continued. The Journey began - well, goodness me, quite a ways from here in a deep forest, of course, since the cats were from ForestClan. Well, most of them - some were loners and kittypets who joined along the way. I can't imagine how they were brave enough; a bunch of desperate foreigners? I guess it appealed to those who wanted a new life."
He knew his telling was all over the place, but it was more fun that way. Gorsekit could always ask for what she wanted and he'd oblige. Linear recitation gets dull after a while, anyway, he decided, nibbling on the exposed flesh of the fish and stripping away more of its shiny scales with precise, delicate motions. |

Gorsekit suddenly regretted her earlier rudeness to the elder. Maybe she'd get a friend out of this. A friendship that would (Hopefully) last a long time. Sure, she had friends within her den and of course there was her mother, her most ardent supporter, but it was always good to expand her horizons. Particularly when it was to make another cat happy.
I like this way he's telling me... He's not treating me like a silly kit at all. Why, he's actually treating me like an...an equal. "Natural Disasters? What are they? Is that like running out of fresh kill?"

"Fresh-kill? No...well, actually, sort of." He nodded, remembering something. "Sometimes, there are severe shortages of fresh-kill, 'famines', but mercifully we haven't had one in a long time." I can remember the last one though...I was barely 24 moons...terrible. He shuddered at the memories of freezing nights when he could count all his ribs and his dank breath had been the only tangible heat.
"But there are other, different kinds too - ice storms, rockfalls, floods, fires...oh, many ills struck the travelers, including illness itself. Many recovered, but not all. I heard from Cloudstar when he was alive of the creatures that attacked as well. Shockingly, there were even kits like yourself on the Journey...Duskstorm, you may have seen her, tortoiseshell warrior, why she was hardly any older than you when she arrived here and she was part of it. Her mother died, I heard." He railed off these personal stories without much inclination for the privacy of the concerned.
Most of the Clan thinks I'm senile anyway, and even without my powers I know that won't change. Why not make it interesting for the child?
OOC: Kitewhisker, worst influence in StreamClan.

Gorsekit took in all the elder said, wide-eyed. She'd also noticed how he got engrossed in the story he was telling, and she laid her head on her paws, still listening avidly. He was such a good storyteller, he made it interesting for all involved... and it sounded to her like he hadn't had the opportunity to tell this particular story in a long time.
"Duskstorm? Yeah, I know of her... She's a very good warrior. I want to be like her, someday. I'm going to be the best warrior in the Clan, you know? Now, tell me more... Please? I'll get you some more fresh kill!"
