He doesn't like having his beliefs questioned, but is willing to be tolerant of other's beliefs, whatever they may be. He also believes in things other than StarClan, though he doesn't know what they could possibly be, that they must exist alongside StarClan, because StarClan is the one constant, the place that all cats go to, right?
Parents | Owlnose, Mother (Deceased,NP), Sandstream, Father (Unknown, NP)
Siblings | Berrykit, Brother (deceased, NP)
Other Kin | None
Mate | Not Yet
Crush | Sparrowclaw- MeadowClan
Kits | Not Yet
Apprentice/Mentor | Dovenose, Mentor [NP] Gingertail, Apprentice [NP]
Appearance | Dustwhisker has Brown tabby fur, with darker shades of black. Mostly the black seems more apparent than the brown, but that's just because of the way the black/brown are striped. He has long whiskers, part of the reason why he was given the warrior name 'whisker'. He has a permanent look of disapproval. His eyes are emerald green with lighter green flecks, giving him a knowledgeable look. He has short hair and a very long tail, and is taller and more muscular than your average cat. He has a scar across his shoulder blades. (See History)
Personality | Dustwhisker knows he looks disapproving most of the time, and plays on it shamelessly. Although, underneath it all, he is kind-hearted, especially towards kits and elders, believing that kits are gifts from StarClan, and that Elders are like StarClan's messengers. His biggest flaw however, is that of letting whatever's in his head come out of his mouth without much thought for the circumstances. He makes up for this with loyalty. Nobody could doubt his loyalty to the Warrior Code, to StarClan, and what he knows to be right.
Skills | Dustwhisker was given the name 'whisker' for his exemplary tracking abilities. He can also hunt and fight reasonably well, but he definitely prefers tracking, he can usually find something within a few minutes.
When it comes to hunting, Dustwhisker hunts better in water than on land, using his lithe body to dip under the water in order to flick fish out onto the shore, then he leaps out of the water and finishes the fish off. If this method of water hunting fails, or the body of water is not big enough to dive into, Dustwhisker will use one of two techniques: He will either wait at the water's edge, keeping his shadow away until a flash of silver appears, then quick as a flash, he will hook the fish out of the water with one claw and bite the fish dead, or he will pad at the surface of the water, giving the fish the illusion of a bug. When the fish comes up to look, again with the claw.
When it comes to hunting on land, Dustwhisker prefers to stalk, keeping his weight on his haunches and his steps light, so his prey doesn't even know he's there until he's on top of them.
When Dustwhisker battles, he tends to use a technique of trickery, making his body go limp and lulling his foe's into a false sense of security, and when they prepare to lunge their teeth into him, he uses all the strength in his powerful body to flick them over and pin them, turning the tables of the battle in his favour.
History |
Kithood~ When Dustwhisker was born, his brother Berrykit couldn't withstand the harsh weather into which he was born, so he died; determined to protect their remaining kit, Dustwhisker's parents, Owlnose and Sandstream, came to the then leader of StreamClan, and asked him to take them all into his clan. He accepted, and so Dustwhisker was raised as a StreamClan cat.
Apprenticeship~ Dustkit became Dustpaw, and given the mentor Dovenose. This flighty she-cat, also famed for her tracking abilities, made Dustwhisker the tracker he is today. Unfortunately, while he was still a young apprentice, his mother was slain during a hunting/border patrol; His father, wrought with grief, disappeared into the wilderness, and to this day Dustwhisker does not know if he is still alive. His apprenticeship was also the time he got his characteristic scar: after being given his first solo task (bringing back Fresh-Kill for the Clan), Dustpaw fell into the water whilst hunting, and nearly drowned due to a stick that was wedged into the silt at the bottom, and it was him dragging himself away from this stick that scratched his shoulder blades.
Warriorhood~ After nearly 6 moons of training, Dustpaw was named Dustwhisker, and praised for his forethought and loyalty. After this it was a whirlwind of hunting, patrols, and making sure the apprentices took good care of the elders. Even he stopped by occasionally, between patrols, to catch up on Elder Tales and exchange news about what was going on in other Clans, that he'd gleaned from Border Patrols. It was in the middle of all this that Dustwhisker was given an apprentice of his own, Gingerpaw. He taught her the ways of the warrior code as he himself had been taught, through training exercises and plenty of praise for a job well done. He was the first to cheer his apprentice when she received her name, Gingertail.
Roleplay Example |
Dustwhisker opened one bleary eye. Sure enough, the sun was weakly shining in a way that befitted the dawn, it was the height of Greenleaf, sure enough it would be a good day. Stretching, a purr escaped his maw. He picked his way delicately through the mass of sleeping bodies, thinking to himself- If i'dve known when I put myself on the dawn patrol that it was so damn early, I wouldn't have done it! Oh well, today is a new day and I shall be my usual self.
Dustwhisker met with the rest of the dawn patrol, after a short wait- Seems I'm better at waking early then SOME cats.
They started off, Dustwhisker in the lead. He was determined not to let anything be wrong with his Clan's territory this morning. Sure enough, there wasn't, and prey was plentiful.
Dustwhisker turned to the source of the voice. "Of course you may. Take it straight to the elders when you get back, they'll thank you for it!"
