Beliefs|
Duskstorm doesn't really believe in StarClan, and has somewhat abandoned her belief in Cat Gods, thinking them a silly superstition of apprenticehood. Now she wonders if there isn't some supreme force in nature, or forces, that embody two opposites - good and evil, day and night, earth and sky, etc. She hasn't fully thought out what and why they are, but it's become one of her favorite things to puzzle over.

Duskstorm's pelt coloring is a mixture of pumpkin orange and very dark brown. Her markings are unique like all tortoiseshell cats. Her pattern is mostly made up of dapples and blotches, but there are a few random stripes in the mix.
Her fur itself is quite thin, long in length, and wavy. It's a magnet for dust, unfortunately, and all the collected dust makes her fur look dull. Lifeless. Of course, that's the way it's supposed to be. Who wants living, breathing fur for their pelt? Certainly not Duskstorm!
Duskstorm's build is very scrawny-- almost bony-- and filled with springy muscles. Her limbs are long, ending with dainty webbed paws. Her body itself is very long, including her neck and tail. She was made to be a swimmer, or so she thinks. Her long fur slows her down, but not by much.
Personality|
Duskstorm has a rather stormy personality, accompanied by mood-swings, naughty jokes, dorky quirks, and is a complete dunce. Huzzah.
Duskstorm isn't all the great when it comes to interacting with others. She rarely ever got the chance to as a kit, so it's hard to communicate with her fellow Clanmates, or cats themselves for that matter. The main problem is that Duskstorm doesn't have the experience to be around cats without making a fool or oddball of herself. She blames it on the Great Journey.
All Duskstorm really wants is to be normal, or as normal as normal gets. She sees herself as a outcast in her Clan, struggling to be part of something that seems out of her reach: friendship. Yes. Friendship. The more normal she is, Duskstorm hopes that more cats will like her, and therefore become her friends. Duskstorm doesn't want to be all alone; who would? But it's hard to be something she isn't, so Duskstorm resorts to the only thing she knows how to do: being herself.
Being herself involves being... different. She doesn't like that. Not one bit. But she doesn't really have a choice in the matter, so it seems.
She often used to brood, and still does sometimes, but has grown up a bit and hardened somewhat. Still, she has a lingering longing to be liked and maybe even loved.
Her mood-swings are at random. You can't predict when she'll have her mood-swings, just that they're coming, and you better watch out. Some of Duskstorm's mood-swings... are rather violent. She's either extremely angry for no reason, or has the urge to hurt others. But mostly... mostly it's sadness. Like, near-to-tears sadness. Deep sorrow. It used to be for her mother and brother, but now it just seems aimless, almost irritating.
Other than her mood-swings, Duskstorm has a touch of naughtiness about her. She loves her naughty jokes. Adores them with every fiber of her being. Duskstorm enjoys being a little wicked now and then, and even more enjoys making a fellow clanmate squirm or blush from one of her comments. It's just natural for her. She thinks she got it from her mother's side of the family. That absolute free feeling of being sassy and down-right dirty. It makes her own mouth water sometimes. She's aware it doesn't help her status, but whatever.
Of course, there are times where she's an absolute dork, too. Duskstorm always was a little on the slow side, a dunce you could say. She makes a lot of stupid mistakes that she often scolds herself for. Sometimes she won't get something, and it goes right over her head. Other times her mind goes completely blank, and she can't think. And then there are times where she is just silly, snorts with laughter for no reason at all, or even cackles to herself. It's a way for her to fill the loneliness she feels.
And yet...she wonders now that she's older if she can be content with loneliness. Staying away from others is hard, but it's better to just goof off by herself than just look stupid. Of course, even that's hard because now she has to mentor the most idiotic cat in the world, Dovepaw, who is as different from her as the earth is from the sky.
She has developed an admiration for Bignose and cautiously hopes to befriend her.
Skills|
Duskstorm is an excellent fighter. She's quick on her feet and has unlimited energy. A very agile being. Sometimes she may even fight dirty, like raking her claws over her enemies eye, or bite their tail. Sadly, she doesn't have much strength, and is only good enough for dodging and swatting; not heavy blows.
Duskstorm is not a particularly good hunter or tracker. She doesn't have the most sensitive nose a cat should have, and her natural hunter extincts are not what they should be. She's not quite as squeamish as she used to be about killing things with fur, but still prefers not to when she can.
Of course, Duskstorm's skills do not just revolve around battling.
Anything that involves water, she can do it. Catch fish, swim,
even battle in a thin stream. Basic RiverClan-like skills. But I thoroughly doubt a battle will happen in the water, if ever.
Right?
History|
Duskstorm doesn't remember her life before StreamClan all that much. She had only been a kit when she had been taken along the Great Journey by her mother, Darkstorm, Aunty Ebony and Uncle Pumpkin. Those weren't they're real names, her Aunt and Uncle's, but it's not her fault that they left the Clan and changed their names before she could learn them.
It had been a big argument within her family. Her grandparents-- from both sides of the family-- wanted everyone to stay. To not go on the Great Journey. They said it was too "dangerous" to go. Maybe they were just afraid. Maybe they were too old and were jealous. Duskp-- Dusk-kit, really didn't understand the situation at the time, for she was too young.
Neither did her brother, Gingerkit.
After two days of arguing amoungst themselves, the "adults" finally came to a decision. Darkstorm would take Dusk-kit, Pumpkin, and Ebony onto the Great Journey, while Orangestripe, Dapplefang, Blackwhisker, Spiderstep, Sandpelt, and Finchclaw would stay in ForestClan...
And Gingerkit.
Duskstorm can barely remember her brother-- a blurry image here and there in her memories, maybe a dream of him once and a blue moon. All she did remember of him where these few little words: "Be strong, Dusk-kit! We'll be together again one day!"
That was the last Dusk-kit ever saw of him again.
The Great Journey had been rough. Brutal, even. Many had died, gotten sick, or lost. The amount of cats gone was harsh, but everyone left kept going, the hope of finding a new home still swollen in their hearts.
...Then Darkstorm died. Just dropped dead. Literally. She had died from starvation and exhaustion. Duskstorm still wonders, if she hadn't been a kit then-- a burden-- would her mother still be alive? Would she be in StreamClan with her? Duskstorm would never get the chance to know.
Now it was up to Ebony and Pumpkin to look after Dusk-kit.
After burying her mother in the snow, the trio set off once again, Dusk-kit swinging from Ebony's mouth, mewling her feeble grief to the world.
The moons ticked on, and soon Dusk-kit became old enough to look after herself and become an apprentice, but still she held her kit-hood name.
Finally, after such a long time, the group stumbled upon something... something marvelous...
Their new home.
The group parted into four, and named their clans. StreamClan, PineClan, FogClan, MeadowClan-- and the choice for Dusk-kit was StreamClan, by her relatives. Ebony and Pumpkin said their goodbyes to their kin, then left, once again becoming loners on a nearby ranch.
Dusk-kit would remember them for a long time. But not as Dusk-kit, oh no. Her new Clan-- StreamClan-- had given her her new name...
Duskpaw.
And now, after moons of training, after still more loneliness, she gained a new name. And hopefully a better future.
Duskstorm.
A fitting name. She's still just as lonely and uncertain as she was before, though she's grown up a bit. Of course, she now looks back to those days fondly, because now things are ten times worse - she has Dovepaw as an apprentice.
But she does like Bignose.
