GENERAL RULES !
[/font][/right]! Forest of Fate doesn’t have a set limit for literacy. However, we ask that you can form complete sentences and well thought out post at least 200 characters. No one liners here, please. Please not only make your post grammatically correct, but make them realistic, keeping in mind what is 'feasible' on FoF. No flying cats ;P! If English is not your first language, please, tell a staff member! We’d love to help you in getting better at the language and you’re not alone here.
! Keep profanity to a minimum. This means both swearing and graphic content, in and out of roleplay. We have a board specifically for profanity and there is no need to go overboard anywhere else, especially the cbox. The general idea is to keep things PG (unless on the profanity board) with a little leeway. Members here vary in age, and it is important to protect the younger members from exposure to nasty things.
! Rate your OOC boards. Please follow the limit and mark accordingly, especially if the thread is over PG-13.
! G is for general audience threads.
! PG is for threads a little more detailed, battle threads could fit here or slight romance.
! PG-13 is for darker types of thread. Mid-graphic violence or romance role plays should be marked with this one.
! Do not advertise anywhere but the approved board. We will delete the advertisement if it’s not in the correct place and ban your IP for a certain amount of time if you do it again. Members will be warned and suspended.
! RESPECT EVERYONE This is probably the most important rule. If you don't do anything else, do this. When someone ask you to stop, please do so. If you’re asked to change something or move it to another medium, just obey what you’ve been asked to do. This goes for orders by both members and staff. It makes things a lot easier. No insulting or name calling of any sort, either. We’re all friends and family here at FoF, there’s not need for harsh feelings or tense air.
! Read the information. Before joining Forest of Fate, it’s highly suggested you read all of the rules, plots, settings, and maybe even a few accepted bios before really joining. We’d love to have you here, but we’d like your experience to be the best possible.
APPLICATION RULES !
[/size][/font][/right]! Make sure you use the correct form for your applications. Rankings and regular cats have different application forms, so make sure you don’t mix them up! Also, post the application in the correct sub-board so it’s not difficult to find it.! Do not apply for rankings unless that ranking position is open.
! Make sure you post on the Notification Thread when your bio is done, that way we know it’s ready to be accepted! Also inform us when changes are made through the Notification Thread. The staff will not see your bio unless they see it on that thread, and will not take requests to do so over PM unless it is already on the Notification thread.
! The current limit for cats is 10 cats, rankings not included. You will recieve a new spot for every year you've been on the site (so the current max is 12) and you can pay for new spots with Karma (20 points). If you're interested in purchasing a new spot, have a look in the Karma exchange
! There is no limit to how long you have to finish your cats. Take all the time you need, we want them to be the best characters they can be! Rankings cats also do not have a limit, but if we feel you are taking too long, we will poke you and ask about it. But really, try not to rush.
! Lastly, don’t get mad or upset if you were asked to change your bio around. It is rare for a biography to get through the bio checking process without change. We just want the cats to be realistic and fun to role play with.
! You may pick how much critique you want on every bio. There are 2 possible levels. If you want to find out about this, please check out HERE.
! Please be aware that we employ a double checking system. For a character to be accepted, it must be checked by 2 members of staff. The first checker will post [1/2] on your board when they believe the bio is of the right standard, the second will move the board when they believe the bio is ready. We do this because every bio checker has strengths and weaknesses and they may miss something.
CHARACTER RULES !
[/size][/font][/right]! FoF is a traditional site. That means names must follow a traditional style and describe the cat in a clear, precise way. Ten’s naming guide is what we tend to follow here, feel free to use that for a reference.
! This is a realistic site. That means cats are just like basic feral cats, if a little personified. No wings, magic, special connections, or anything of that sort will be found here. However, cats do indeed have eyebrows, eyelids, and the ability to raise an eyebrow. Just in case you were wondering.! On the topic of realism, the cats must also follow genetics. If you’re unsure about genetics refer to the guide we have here or ask a staff member, they’d be glad to help!
! As we are a traditional site, FoF understands that our prefix list may not be the largest. So long as the name is not taken, cats in clans can share the same prefix. That means there can be a Blackpaw, Blackfur, and Blackheart all in the same clan. However, we do not want two apprentices with the same prefixes. No two Whitepaws in the same clan at any time.
! Here at FoF we do allow homosexual cats. To apply for a gay cat, though, you must have a certain amount of karma and have proven to be a active, friendly, capable members. Gay cats are treated as rankings, though posted in the usual cat area, and will be looked over as such. To be able to apply for one of these cats, please take a look at the Karma Exchange.
! For each gathering that goes by, cats will be asked to age. Apprentices age by one moon each gathering. Leaders, Warriors, Deputies, Medicine Cats, and Queens are asked to be aged 2-5 moons per gathering, that way their life goes by faster. We don’t want them warriors forever. Elders are allowed age by one moon. Kits are aged when the staff tells you to age them, which tends to be once a month.
ROLE PLAYING RULES !
[/size][/font][/right]! GOD-MODDING & POWER-PLAYING IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED. Whenever you are posting. Your character, given that s/he is three-dimensional, cannot have instant hits and cannot dodge/avoid all hits. Your character can only do so much. It is tasteless, and if you are caught doing so, we will warn you to edit your posts!
! Liquid time is used here, meaning you can have two threads with the same character simultaneously. Please use this wisely and only take on as many threads as you can manage, attempting to create a 'timeline' for your cat. Gatherings or Med Cat gatherings do not need to be factored into your cats timeline as they are independant from them and run on their own independant timeline.! Liquid time, not liquid mind. Your cat does not know what the other cats are thinking. They only know what they say or what their body motions (which the other cat’s player mentioned). You cannot have your cat just know another cat has evil intentions just because your cat “is really good at that”.
! Gatherings are currently held once every few months, because they take a lot of time to organise and roleplay fully. We try to ensure that leaders post before their cats do, but if the leader's player is absent, this rule is flexible. It is up to you who you bring to the gathering, but please be responsible and logical when choosing your cats. If you have multiple cats attending, please keep all of them in one post.
! Medicine Cat meetings, like Gatherings, will occur once every few months and will last for a month or so. The first cat to post at the gathering will be picked by the admins, though players can volunteer. After that they may not post again until all the other cats have posted once. The Medicine Cat meeting will start with them all arriving to the MoonGlade where they will chat a bit before going to receive dreams. PineClan cats will sit out during the dreaming time.
! Keep your characters’ personalities. No adapting to a situation just because you think it would be best. Your characters do what your characters do, no exceptions.
! Only make one account here. Not one per character, one account will hold all your characters.
! Try to keep all of your characters active. Inactive ones can be moved to the inactive section if you are inactive or if you request it. Inactive threads will be moved to the archives and must be requested for if you wish to revive it. Once a month or so we will have an activity check, where we check who is active. If you do not post there in a certain length of time, your account will be deleted and your cats will go to inactive cats or adoption if you wish. You can request them back if you return to FoF.
! Characters may only be mates with characters made by other roleplayers. This is to try and stop inter-roleplaying. There are special cases where this is allowed (usually for plots) but these must have the admins express permission.
! Queens can only give birth to a max of five kits. You, as the parent, can play no more than two. The other parent can also play no more than two. The other kit(s) must go up for adoption ASAP. Kits cannot be born without pre-arranged players. Kits stay kits until the month they were born in ends. Then they jump to being four moons and can be played by their correct players.
! Mark your threads appropriately. If it’s an open one, say so in the title. If it’s private, specify that by posting the other cat's names. Threads go by a rating limit, too. Please follow the limit and mark accordingly, especially if the thread is over PG-13. We have a special rating system for rp boards here, so check out how to do so HERE
CHATBOX RULES !

! The GOLDEN RULE of the chatbox is to make everyone feel welcome. Be inclusive and courteous to every member without exception. Efforts by everyone should be made to ensure conversations remain open to new joinees (new member, old member, whoever it may be). Any member who feels left out or poorly treated has the right to say so, and if that should happen, others there should try to aid the situation (without condemnation or argument). The c-box is a place for every person on the site, member or not, to chill and enjoy themselves, and it is everyone's responsibility to ensure it remains this way.
! Do not advertise on the chatbox. Staff from other sites who come to make an announcement may keep their site's link in their names. Other than that, no posting site links unless someone asks for it. Do not hint at the site to make people ask for the URL, either. People found doing this will be banned from the chatbox.
! Do not spam. Do not troll. Do not impersonate. Do not play the 'guess who' game. If you do this and persist after the warning, you will get banned. Each time you're caught your ban will get longer.
! BE POLITE. Do not make fun of people in anyway. Even if you're just joking, they might not see it that way. Be careful of what you type and who you're typing it too. If fights break out on the chatbox, either leave, make a thread or PM the member as appropriate. Do not continue on the fight in the c-box.
! If anyone asks you to stop or take it off the chatbox, do so. If you feel your being asked to stop is unfair, take it up with a staff member over pm. Do not cause any trouble on the chatbox. This includes bringing trouble from other sites. People found do this will be banned.
! Don't talk about politics, religion, or any other "sensitive" issues. Seriously.
! NO STREAKING. This is a rule special to Forest of Fate. It doesn't mean the act of running around naked (though we suggest not doing that), it means to hint that something is wrong, but not be willing to share it when asked. If you don't want people asking, don't even mention it a little. Be prepared to talk about things that you bring up. It's unfair to worry other members if you're not planning on telling them what is wrong.
