WELCOME TO V2! Yes, after a month of trials, discussions and hour-long post writing sessions, Forest of Fate v2 is finally open to the public :D Not everything is entirely done yet, but we're now at a stage where we feel ready to welcome new members while completing those other behind the scenes things. Now, you don't think we've spent these past few weeks sitting on our behinds, twiddling our thumbs, do you? In addition to the new skin (made by Pyro and I!) we have moved over old and current rule threads and have done a considerable amount of modification to fix up old aspects of the site that never quite worked. Therefore, it's important you read through this ENTIRE announcement properly, or you might miss something important. Updated rules and other Rules Take a look here! A considerable amount of work has been done on the rules of FoF. In some places, this has been an amount of updating to include unwritten rules which have been in place for a long while. However, some huge changes. We SERIOUSLY recommend going to the Rules Subforum and reading all the threads in there again. Some highlights: - The rating system for roleplay boards has changed COMPLETELY. We will no longer be using PG-13, R etc. to mark boards, we will be using the RPG rating system. Read about it here - The Cat limit has been lowered to 10! The system we used before never worked (not even once!) and it's obvious 20 is too much. However, we have a compromise. For every year you're on FoF, you gain one more spot, so if you were on v2 for 2 years, there is a possible 12 spots up for grabs. Karma can also be used to purchase new cat spots. - Gatherings and medicine cat meetings will now be held every few months and will last a month or so. The once a month for 1 week system sucked, and we never stuck to it anyway! - You now have the option to choose, out of 2 options, how much critique you want on a bio. The requirements for each cat have NOT gone down, however we realised the old system, with some very in depth crits, was not right for some rpers. Therefore we have introduced this as a compromise, while keeping our standards the same. Check out this thread for more information! But know that much much more has been changed! Go look for yourself! Settings In addition to rule changes, we've added in a few more settings. Go check them out ;P Description Threads outlining our stance on Religion on FoF and Our Biography Moderating process have been added. In addition, our Karma Exchange (THERE WAS A KARMA EXCHANGE?!) has finally been finished. You may purchase Trans/Gay kitties, minor mutations such as extra toes and extra cat spots there. However, be sure to look at all the conditions in the thread! Another very important point - Timelines On v1, the staff were... well, lax when it came to moving the timeline along. The staff could never agree when to do so, or by how much, meaning there was a huge gap between the amount of time that should have passed and the amount of time that, by the timelines, had passed. It had got to the point where it was no longer ridiculous, it was so bad it was funny XD So, to rectify this, the staff have added a considerate amount of moons to the timeline. HOWEVER, we consider these BACK END moons, meaning they only effect things behind the scenes. Therefore: - You do NOT need to age up your characters. - For cats from v1, you do not need to alter the history of your cat - You do not need to do a 'time leap' within roleplay. - You should rp your cat as they were on v1, same age, same development, same point you left off, with nothing done to the bios. - CATS MADE FROM THIS POINT ON MUST OBEY THE NEW TIMELINE! This means that it is now very probable your cat could be born in the clans, as well as out of it. Plots The plot board has now moved and been entirely changed! There is now a dedicated board (with sub-boards) within the Character's area of the board, beneath Cat Central. There are now several subboards and a very very altered process for creating plots, so it's important that you go and look at all the relevant threads there to get used to the new system. Although it seems more complex to learn, in the long run it will be a lot easier for both staff and members to organise plots. In addition, the Underlying Plot has now been changed to reflect the current clan life, so you may want to take a look at that. As suggested before, the Clan Timeline has been entirely updated to add more moons and events. You may want to take a look at it to get things square in your head! Now, onto the specific things for members. Version 1 Members Hey guys ;P Welcome back! We want to make it as easy and stress free as we can when it comes to moving over here. We're very aware that some of you may have up to 2 years of history you're leaving behind/bringing over, and we want to help you get here as easily as possible. However, be aware that it may take some time to help all of you get settled, and we will need you to be patient because there will be a lot of stuff to do. To help everyone over, we have created a temporary area called the 'V2 setup' area. Here you will find threads with instructions on how to bring your cats over the easy way (without going through acception), how to redeem your post count and karma and there is an entire forum dedicated to getting things straight in your head. V2 is going to be very busy for the staff for a while, so we're afraid we're going to have to insist that you ask all questions by making a board on v2 setup. Questions on the c-box or PM (unless they are sensitive issues) will be redirected to there. It's likely that, if you're stuck on something, someone else is too, so let's all just kill lots of birds with a single stone XD You do NOT need to ask for permission to transfer in progress threads. To do so, you may either take it in turns to repost your messages or simply quote everything in the first post and carry it on. Plots will need to be reaccepted on v2. Please make your plot in the relevant subboard and get a staff member to check it over again. New Members First off, welcome to FoF :D It's lovely to meet you, and I speak for all of the staff when I say we look forward to roleplaying and chatting with you. You've joined at a perfect time, a time when there are all manner of opportunities open to you. With the move to v2, plots are looking for new applicants, rankings are looking to be filled and the staff are looking for moderators and bio moderators :D As a new member, you do not need to worry about the fact that you were not on v1. Join the site exactly like you would any other :) You do not need a v1 heritage to rp here :D All the rules are up to date, and the exceptions will not apply to you, so you don't have to much to worry about :D If you have any questions, the staff and members are always willing to help. Just drop us a pm, write a question in 'Support' or ask around on the c-box and we'll help you out :D Rankings With the move to v2, several rankings have now opened. Applications are open to everyone, so feel free to apply whenever you want. To do this, you should, as always, make your thread in the relevant Rankings area. We will attempt only to decide on who gets the role after 2 or more people have finished their application, but this rule may be bent if there is a good cat and it's taking too long. If you would like to apply using a lower ranking cat, please make a thread with an rp sample with them in the ranking you want (i.e. rping the cat as a deputy) and link to their accepted application. Open rankings are as follows: Pineclan Medicine cat (x1-2) Medicine cat apprentice (x1-2) Meadowclan Medicine cat (x1) Medicine cat apprentice (x1) Please remember that there is also a plot going on, and you can apply for roles in that in the dedicated Meadowclan Plot area. Streamclan Leader (x1) Deputy (x1) Medicine Cat Apprentice(x1) Poor Streamclan XD They really aren't in a great place right now! Fogclan Deputy (x1) (priority given to those with an already existing cat) In addition, Fogclan Council member can now be applied for (when making a new cat) in the rankings area, and this ranking will ALWAYS be open! Staff Applications When FoF is on it's feet again, we will begin our search for a new collection of staff members. As usual, we will be doing our usual practice of employing staff with less responsibility and will give them an increasing amount (which suit their skills!) as they become accustomed to how the site is run. We will be looking for Bio-moderators and Moderators and currently we do not know how many we plan to employ. However, there may be a significant amount, because we are currently very understaffed. The thread is not yet up, but once we've had a week or 2 of settling down time, applications will open with more detail on what each role involves. Specific Plots The Meadowclan Plot now has it's own dedicated subforum instead of just a single thread! If you are interested in playing a part in it, go check out the subforum. They are very needed and the plot is really exciting, so go take a look :D The Fogclan plot has been entirely revamped in terms of plotline. Unfortunately, it's not been possible to write up all the threads that will be needed to launch it properly, therefore we will need you to be patient for a little while longer to see it in it's full glory. It's dedicated subforum will appear once all the information threads are typed. The revamp is pretty drastic, however fortunately it doesn't involve a significant change to any of the dynamics (i.e. rules, rp style, current clan conflicts etc) have remained the same. The only difference is that, this time, there are no rules. There are only guidelines, and it's up to you how you keep to those guidelines ;P. Roleplay for Fogclan will be open and encouraged, however you will want to postpone any significant events. Essential information for the plot: - Miststar has disappeared mysteriously. Volepelt is convinced that she's been given a task from Starclan that involves her going outside the territories and that she will return. Interpret her motives and the situation however you want. - Volepelt is now running the clan in Miststar's 'temporary' absence, running the clan exactly how a leader would but without the nine lives. - Physical punishments can be dealt by any cat of warrior age for sins. What you interpret as 'sin' is up to you. - Kits are now not allowed to be rped outside the nursery confines or with any cat other than their mother, other queens in the nursery or Volepelt. - Any past rules are guidelines. The plot is self-sustaining now, so do whatever the heck you want, within realism ;P - Please start roleplay knowing in canon Volepelt has become leader, running on the idea that he became the leader a few moons ago. We apologise for the delay in getting the plot completely up, but as you can see, we have a lot on our plate already ;P We'll get the plot up as soon as we can. So yeah, we hope you like v2 :D We've spent a long time making it. Feel free to comment here with any love for the admins and staff, or just expressing your joy that we're finally open again!
