I suppose the world just goes on forever, doesn't it?
The ground seemed to go on , always soft and mushy. Maybe the whole world was covered in mushy ground and water except for where his housefolk's den was. Clyde musta been livin' on and island and hadn't even known it. What a funny thought to be livin' somethin' and not even realize until you stop livin' it. Now that he was part of the rest of the world he was just gonna hafta get used to all the water everywhere. No use in complainin' 'bout somethin' you can't change.
Huh, what was that weird-looking thing? Takin' a few cautious steps Clyde crouched down close to it, jerking back when cold spray hit his face. Obviously it was some sorta watery... thing-a-migger or something-or-other. Slowly he dipped his paw in testing to see if it was safe. Decidin' it was he lowered his head, taking a quick drink. It tasted different than he was used to not as metallic. It was more natural, Clyde hadta admit he liked it. That stuff they gave him at home couldn't hold a whisker to this.
Closing his eyes Clyde took one more drink. Just about to walk away to find some place dry a huge grin appeared on his face. Well looky there!, he could see himself in the whatever-it-was. Wasn't that somethin'? He ran along the water's edge, jumping and dancing. Well wasn't that somethin'! Gettin' into what he though looked like a predatory stance he looked hard at his reflection. Run, I dare ya., forgetting for a moment the other cat wasn't real he plunged himself into the water, causing a loud splash. They always did say curiosity killed the cat... afterall Clyde couldn't swim.
ooc;/ It's supposed to be in StreamClan territory but it can be wherever as long as there is water. Clyde is a character in thinking about making. By the way he has no tail!

ooc:// Don't judge too harsh, first RP post in awhile! Haha.
ic:// {Hazel}
It had been a warm morning, perfect for exploring and getting in a decent walk. Hazel was already annoyed with the new den she and Mint had made the night before; it had been a tight fit up inside the hollow in a tree. Mint was happy, simply because it was the only dry place they could find, but it made the brown she-cat claustrophobic. She liked a little room to fidget in her sleep. But with the wet earth under paw, thoughts about the hot, confined space started melting away. For the first time in awhile, she was truly carefree.
The peace of the calm morning air was interrupted by the sound of splashing. Hazel stopped short, scenting the air cautiously. The smell of many cats lingered on the air, but one was strong. For a moment, the scent brought memories of her kithood. Crunchy food pellets and two-legs, freshly cut grass and garden herbs. It smelled of... home. Dad? The thought flashed briefly in her mind, before dismissing it. No, her father was gone. But this was a kittypet. Intrigued, she padded quickly towards the source of the splash; only to see the cat struggling in the water like a senseless kit. With a slightly annoyed huff, she leaped into the pool of water, determined to help this strange cat.
ooc:// Hope that was okay! :3

His eyes were shut tight and he was flailin' wildly. Oh no! He couldn't breathe he was gonna die!... never mind he was just holdin' his breath. Everything was calm again, until Clyde remembered he couldn't swim. I'm gonna die. Sorry house folk. It was a bit odd he didn't think to apologize to anyone else, especially since he'd never intended to return back to their rotten den anyways.
Fatigue hit hard. It was surprisin' how much thrashing around in a... whatever this was could make you so tired. Well, I guess it's best to die with some dignity. He stopped thrashing, stopped gasping for air. Fully prepared to let the water take him he let his body go slack. He inhaled it, letting it fill his nose and his lungs. It hurt but be could take it. This is it Clyde, say yur good byes. Huh? He felt movement, there was a splash he felt it another cat... maybe?
Trying to focus on anything but the pain in his lungs was impossible. They felt as if they'd burst any moment. Little specks appeared behind his eyelids. He was young and he cursed himself for not knownin' how to swim. He'd had a life ahead of him. Some things just aren't meant to be, huh bud? Clyde chuckled inwardly. Oh well.
ooc;/ Your post was fine ;3

ooc:// Okay! ^3^
ic:// {Hazel}
The mysterious splashing cat was now sinking like a rock. What is he, made of stone? Hazel thought as she inhaled deep, preparing the grab the cat by the scruff of his neck. The brown she-cat wasn't a particularly strong swimmer; but the stream wasn't too deep, and it moved slow. With a grunt, she grabbed the tom and pulled him up, trying to keep his head above the water. Fear struck her hard when she realized the splashing cat wasn't moving, having given up in exhaustion. Is he still alive? Her panic continued to grow until she could finally feel the slippery earth of the stream bed under her paws again. Hazel's struggled against her now aching muscles, pulling the tom cat to shore. His eyes weren't open, but she could hear a heart beat. He was alive, and that alone was a relief.

This whichy-ma-jigger is stronger than I thought. He could feel himself being pulled, couldn't quite tell which way though. Maybe up, maybe down but some where durin' his flailin' he disoriented himself. Clyde didn't quiet care at this point though, whatever happened happened. Suddenly the air hit him and man was it cold!
The water seemed to up and drain away, leaving him on the mushy ground. Cool mud pressed into him turnin' his normally red fur brown. Aye... I can breathe, can't I! Clyde inhaled deeply, trying to fill his already full lungs with air. Water fell onto the ground as he began to cough and sputter. Oh my goddd. he heaved violently, the air hurting his raw throat. Standing up slowly, still silently disoriented he gave a half-hearted shake. Oh my god almighty, I'm sure cold! His body was shakin', almost violently. Jumpin' into the thingy-a-ma-bobber hadn't been a good idea.
His green eyes widened. "Oh!" Another cat had dragged him out, saved him. How nice of them! She was a girl, pretty enough too. "How long you been there?" Clyde smirked, his eyes all sparkles. He hadn't talked to another cat in days!

{Hazel}
She flattened her ears to her head, slightly disturbed at how quickly the cat had bounced back to life. Taking a moment to collect her thoughts and catch her breath, Hazel finally answered. "Long enough to see nearly kill yourself. What made you decide to jump in like that?" Her voice, while genuinely curious, had an annoyed undertone. She licked her now soaking wet pelt. The sun was nice, but not nearly enough to dry her thick coat. For now, she was stuck looking like a half drowned rat.
Looking over the mud splattered tom, she wondered privately where he was from. Kittypet, sure, but anywhere near her old home? Even though she didn't know the cat's name, a shared origin made her feel connected. It was also nice to speak to a cat who wasn't her brother for a change. Hazel loved him dearly, but he didn't talk enough for her. The long gaps in conversation made her nervous.

"My reflection was looking at me funny." He managed to keep a straight face for a split second before burstin' into laughter. Sheesh, this new cat was gonna think he was crazy. Sure it wasn't a good joke but Clyde liked it. Besides it was more for him than anyone else, most things beside were.
Eying her curiously he started to circle her. Much to his pleasure she had a tail, that made his little stump that much more special. He'd never met another cat like him and he was quiet proud of that fact. "So, uh, who're you?" Cockin' his head to the side, as he walked back in front of the she-cat. "I'm Clyde." he gave a stump a little wiggle as if to show how estatic he was just being him. Feeling content he sat down and began to groom himself. He licked his paw and then dragged it over his head.

"Hazel." She replied cautiously. What was wrong with this cat? Was he on an adrenaline rush from nearly drowning, or did he always act this crazy? Hazel shook her head, choosing to ignore his odd behavior. As he circled, she noticed something strange about him. "Where's your tail? How do you climb trees without it?" She asked, shooting him a confused look. The brown she cat was terrible at climbing even with a long tail, how did he manage it without one? It was strange, she'd never seen a cat like that before. "And where are you from anyways, uh, Clyde. You smell like a kitty pet; pretty far out to be wandering if that's true." Hazel asked, curiosity getting the best of her. She had to know!

"Where's you're tail? How do you climb trees without it? What a ridiculous question! "This is my tail!" Clyde insisted, giving it a twitch. "And I don't. I don't need trees." he said, stamping his paw into the ground, the mud oozing between his toes. "Besides I could ask you why your tail looks like that." pointing at it frantically with his paw.
Hey! What had she said her name was... oh phooey he forgot! Wait no it was Hazel, that was nice. "You have a pretty name." he said, not bothering to apologize for interrupting her. Clyde blinked. "Oh yeah. I was buuuuttt now I'm not!" He said happily. He wanted to live, not watch life go by. So that's what he'd decided to do.

{Hazel}
She gave her scarred shoulder a quick lick, embarrassed from the compliment. With her rude attitude and unkempt fur, kind words weren't something Hazel was used to hearing. It was a nice change, though. Maybe this cat wasn't so bad. "Oh yeah. I was buuuuttt now I'm not!"
She blinked slowly, letting the response sink in. "You just... left? Your home, your twolegs, everything?" For a cat who had lost nearly every good thing in her life in the blink an eye, his words stung. The fact that someone could simply walk away from the life that had been ripped away from her was astounding. It almost made her angry that he could seem so happy about it, taking his old home for granted. It just..wasn't fair.

"You just... left? Your home, your twolegs, everything?"
he didn't think he'd have to explain this kind of thing to a wild cat. From what he'd heard they hated kitty-pets or at least their way of life. "Well you see my house-folk were very nice to me. Always gave me enough food, played with me, pet me but..." Clyde trailed off tryin' to figure out how to word what he was gonna say. "But I felt too cooped up. It was like I was watchin' life go by instead of living it." It was rare that they'd let him outside. The rest of his time he spent on the window seal, basking in the sunlight, just watchin' the world. It seemed like the days blended together and everything lost any meanin'. "And there is nothin' worse than being a bystander in your own life." he stated, proud of his decision.
It seemed odd to him that she cared so much, or at least seemed so confused. It wasn't like she'd been a kitty-pet before! Well then again Clyde didn't know that. Realizin' he hadn't answered her question he gave a shy smile. "So to answer your question yes I just left." Sure he missed it from time to time and he did feel bad about leaving his house-folk. Clyde knew he did the right thing though, that life wasn't for him. "Why do you care any way?" The tom asked casting her a curious look.

{Hazel}
"Why do you care any way?" She sat quiet for a minute, trying to form her thoughts into an explanation that would make sense. "I... was a kittypet. My brother and I both." The words felt like broken glass in her mouth. For once in her life, Hazel found it hard to speak. "We lived in a big twoleg nest, with a huge garden to match. But it... it burned down when we were eight moons old. Our parents and twolegs were taken from us." Her voice was quiet, eyes cast downwards. Bittersweet memories clawed at her stomach, making her feel sick. She didn't want to go into deep detail; fearing she'd open the floodgates on suppressed emotions. It was the first time Hazel had even talked about what had happened. Even between her and Mint, they decided to leave it in the past and move forward. "I had to take care of him; and, well, alley cats don't exactly like to share." She gave a dry chuckle, referring to her nicked ear and deeply scarred shoulder. Even healed, it was an ugly reminder of how quickly she'd had to grow up.

Oh, oh, oh. His eyes softened immediately, poor baby. She hadn't wanted to leave her home. It had been taken from her. He could only inagine how bad losing your house-folk were. If he'd lost his he'd be devastated, they were the closest thing to family he had. Clyde wanted to wrap around her and comfort her. He managed to keep himself at bay though, he was such a sucker for a sad story. "I'm so sorry." he said suddenly worried he'd allowed and awkward silence to form with he was processing what she had said.
Her joke made him uncomfortable. She seemed so... negative. Then again who wouldn't be after something like that. "Guess not. I've never had the displeasure of meeting one." he said his tone playful. Hopefully he could take Hazel's mind off of her lose. Clyde hated when other cats were sad because it also made him sad.

{Hazel}
The edges of her mouth curled upwards, unable to suppress a grin. It was hard not to smile; she felt light as air. The crushing weight on her metaphorical shoulders was easing off. "Yeah, something tells me you're as good at fighting as you are at swimming." Hazel chuckled, this time with a more lighthearted tone. Though teasing, she really meant what she said. It horrified her to think about what could have happened to cat like Clyde if a group of alley cats ambushed him. He was lucky to have made it out this far; the wildcats out here were more forgiving. More food to go around, she guessed. "Um, I'm sorry I dumped that on you. You shouldn't have to listen to my problems." Hazel apologized awkwardly. She was out of practice; the she-cat wasn't sorry very often. But in this case, it was horribly embarrassing to have spilled her guts to a cat she'd known all of ten minutes.

He laughed. It was nice to able to joke around with another cat. "Oh ho ho. So you've got yurself a sense of humor." Clyde would of denied her comment about his fighting skills but it probably would of been a lie. Sure he could hunt pretty okay but fighting? That was something else entirely... he wasn't too keen on trying it either. Of course he would if he had to.
"It's fine sweetheart. I asked a question I got an answer. " he said. She didn't have to apologize to anyone, especially not him. "Besides I don't mind. You gotta tell yur problems to somebody. Don't cha?" Clyde strongly believed talking about your problems was the only real way to resolve them.
